I have a few of these TVs that appear to be shutting of the 232 port after some period of time.

When try to turn them on in the morning they will not respond to serial commands until I manually turn them on once. After they are on they will respond perfectly until the next day.

I am using AMX and Just add power. I have added variables to track connection status and add code to send some diagnostic info to the diagnostics buffer. Everything is looking just like it should but the TV will not respond until
It has been powered on manually.

I should add that once it is responding I can turn it on and off so I don't think its the normal energy star stuff.

make sure its on the latest firmware first.

I believe the option that needs to be enables is "Remote start". Its in the network settings area.

I think the Remote Start function is to keep the network card awake during standby.

Try using this string: x8C x00 x01 x02 x01 x90 to enable standby for RS232.

So tried the above command-

TV still will not respond to a power on command after about 15-30 minutes after the TV is turned off.

works fine right after power off but stops responding after awhile.

When you sent that string did the TV respond that the command was acknowledged or did it send an error?

Have a look in the power settings or eco settings of the display. I have had this issue with Sony projectors where the power saving settings turn off the serial port after a period of time.

Can you connect to one of those TVs to the network, either wifi or ethernet and see if they'll wake up?

You have to send an Rs-232 enable one time to keep the connection alive. Not sure of the purpose of this... PM me your e-mail and I can send you the documentation.

That's already been done, see the previous responses.

In discussing the very same issue with user PHSJason he found that when he connected the TVs to the local network, internet present or not, they would NOT go to sleep and they would turn on every single time which is why I asked the OP if he could connect it to the network to keep it awake in the background.

He found that the TVs not connected to a network would send an acknowledgement packet and then a parsing error if they sat overnight.

To clarify.
Job with 8 XBRs of various sizes, all RS232, no internet on property yet, all updated via USB to latest Sony version. All TVs have RS232c enabled via menu and no other menu settings changed since this is an initial config.
When AMX system first came online, all TV were physically powered on, and control system sent power standby enable command at online. All TVs received command. All would power on and off via RS232, but would go to 'deep sleep' after a while.
Except one. One TV would reliably turn on even after an overnight. All TVs were updated from the same USB drive, so software versions all match. All units set the same, so no TV settings were different.
Tested all non-responsive units and attempted to send power standby enable command again. All non-responsive units replay with an initial ACK, followed by a parser error reply @5 seconds later. Unit that works only sends the ACK.
Checked all menu settings on all displays and found the ONLY difference was that the TV that didn't go to sleep had a physical network connection due to the location and type of HDBaseT used. All other TVs were to be wireless and had not been connected to house network yet since there is no internet yet.
Connected all TVs to wireless/house network with no other changes. Now, TV respond to the power standby enable command with only an ACK and no more parser error. They also do not go into the deep sleep mode anymore. I was only able to test a time period of 2 hours after power off, but previously, 20 minutes would suffice for the deep sleep. After network connection, all TVs turn on reliably.

Would be curious to know if it's the LAN connection itself, or simply that the unit is now assigned an IP address. IE if the coding in the set uses the IP address to 'store' the standby enable command.

Could also be that the power standby via 232 is tied to WOL in some way, or that it was just some quirk is set-up.
I have dome a lot of XBRs via serial with no issues, but can't think of a single one that wasn't connected to the internet from day one to update firmware before any control programming even began. This was my first experience with USB update.

I'm having the exact same problem with these screens and an amx controller.

Latest firmware fixed an rs232 audio mute bug we had but display definitely goes into deep sleep and won't power back on after 20 minutes.

Has anyone tried assigning a static ip address to the display with no network cable connected to see if that is enough to keep the ports alive?

I see evidence that a network connection is needed. I see a couple of places where no internet is there, making that seem unnecessary. Don't forget that before we had internet, we had networks and did A LOT with them.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
