I decided to hire an installer when there's not enough space for me-

I always wanted to use a ferret to run pull lines in buildings. Put a little harness on it, tie on and go call him at the next hole.

I used to have a customer that was from Spartanburg SC that claimed he had a DTV installer Come out to his house and the installer had a chihuahua that he trained to pull coax through crawl spaces. Crawl spaces there are tight and chances of snakes are good. Guess a dog is cheap enough to be expendable.

At the risk of being politically incorrect, we've often said we need to hire a little Oaxacan guy, mostly because it sounds funny.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

You just lost the internet.

And I bet it doesn't seem funny to a Oaxacan guy.

Fins and highfigh, you are politically correct.

However, we've seen enough of what you write here, that reveals attitudes that are hardly in line with the sweetness and ignoring of reality that is the basis of political correctness.

Political correctness in speech is speech that attempts to keep from insulting anyone, even if the resulting speech is a lie. It puts a random person's feelings (feelings, nothing more than feelings) in a higher category than truth.

From [Link: geo-mexico.com], a survey by Mexico’s National Chamber for the Clothing Industry finds the following, when attempting to ACCURATELY portray the average size of Mexican people:
The survey, limited to people over 18 years of age, found that the median height was 165 cm (5’4″) for Mexican males and 158 cm (5’2″) for females. The median weight was 74.8 kg (165 lb) for males and 68.7 kg (151 lb) for females.

There's no reason for us to know if a person from Oaxaca is, on average, larger or smaller than this, but I only used that name because, in English conversation, it sounds funny.

So actually you are being overly sensitive about things (and who would have believed that about you two?). I'd love it if you'd become equally sensitive about yourself and the things you say and do, especially Fins while/after drinking. Kick yourself every time you say something politically incorrect for at least the next week. Kick yourself every time you THINK something politically incorrect, too!

Excuse me now, but I have to call my installer friend and tell him about this little conversation. I expect a few laughs. He's an American Citizen, a Republican, who came to the US legally from Mexico and followed the legal steps to citizenship, and who hates illegal immigration. And is five foot two.

By the way, thanks for your comments. If you had not responded that way, I'd NEVER have looked up "how tall is a Mexican?"

Ernie, just so you know; the correct and proper responses were "Thanks" and "yeap"; not this 3 paragraph actual answer.

The correct and proper responses WERE NOT "thanks" and "yep." And you are correct to call those three paragraphs an "actual answer." Another thing about political correctness: the politically correct DO NOT want the actual answer. And it was eight paragraphs.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It's easier to find some neighborhood kid for those nasty wire pulls.

$5.00 to a 7 year old is BIG money. :-)

Since we are, all of the sudden, being politically correct...I assume you don't target a specific ethnic background when driving around in your van searching for child labor?

An idea just came to me: Install van that doubles as an ice-cream truck. Dual income and child labor recruitment center all in one.

Ernie, the problem wasn't that your comment was politically incorrect. The problem was that it wasn't funny and killed the energy of the thread. For one, you picked such an obscure ethnicity, most probably had to google it to even figure out who the Oaxacan people are. A joke should never have to be wiki'ed to get the punchline. Next time just say, "I've always wanted to hire a midget for crawls pace work. "
