Dead center worked for me too.

So I must ask. If you're sticking the IR repeater in the center, then what is that to the right? Is that the status LED?

Just picked up one of these. Placed the flasher in the middle just like you all suggested.

Using Gen 3 codes, Menu and directional buttons work fine, but the Play/Pause no longer work. Does it have a new code?

No, same codes as old version. I've found some can be very picky about IR bug placement. Literally move it 1/16" and all is good.

We have have had issues as well
Somewhere, maybe here on RC, there is a hex code that is working for us.

I have noted an issue with the MX-890 and my new Apple TV. The play pause would not work from the Complete Control Library. This is not the first time I've come across something quirky with the MX-890.

Change the number of repeats in the Macro editor to 1 and uncheckmark the repeat when button is pressed.

use the following code.
0000 006D 0044 0002 0155 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 04AB 0155 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0555 0155 0055 0016 0E55

Installed a new one the other day. I loaded the URC IRDB codes labeled AppleTV Gen4 and could not get them to work. I didn't have my laptop with me, was in a hurry, so did not have time to fuss with it more. I wasn't sure if it was the wrong codes, or I wasn't placing the emitter in the correct place, and will go out again today or tomorrow.

I was trying in the center of the front (all over the middle) and no love.

Of course, I didn't have my laptop to change repeats or try Gen 3 codes.

Would like to get a consensus. It seems most feel it is in the center of the front. But do Gen 4 codes (URC IRDB) work? Or Gen 3?

The Apple BlueTooth remote does work, but need to get the URC remote to function properly. It can't be that hard?

I looked in the settings menu, but all I see is a "learn your remote" feature and I didn't want to change those factory settings, feeling it would be better to figure out what the real issue was.

Just right of center - 2.25"/2.50" from the left side.

The exterior housing is opaque, like an IR emitter case. Suppose that's why some have luck at the center point.

So it looks like its almost at the bottom too? I don't think I went that far "down" on the front of the unit. And I may not have been quite that far to the right. I was probably floating the emitter up higher and nearer to the middle, while continuing to press the cursor up , left, right, etc button on the URC remote.

Anyone know which codes work for sure?

It can learn any codes you want to use. I programmed a URC remote the other day for one, and they have a codeset labeled 4th Gen Apple TV. I do not think the codes worked though, until I learned them into the Apple TV. YMMV.

But would that explain why it works for some commands and not others? All work except for Play/Pause.
