Between age 17-19 i lived on Sedgwick and Blackhawk. This is a couple blocks down from where Cabrini Green was. Every day when the sun went down you could hear gun fire for a few minutes like some sort of moon ritual.

You win! The area near me is nothing like Cabrini was.

I was in LA last year and when I really needed my phone's GPS, the battery died and I didn't have a cigarette lighter charger, so I looked for a drug store. I found one, but didn't like the crowd hanging around outside of the front door and kept driving. I found a Rite Aid and went in. The guy asked what I needed and as we walked to the case with the iPhone accessories, he asked what I was doing in CA. I told him and he said "Well, you don't need to be coming HERE!". I made it to my cousin's house and when I told them where I had been, they basically said "More guts than brains". It was the street that divides Compton and Downey.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I remember when the lady mayor of Chicago moved in to Cabrini Green to prove it was safe. lol, that didn't last long. We lived in suburbs, but what a shitty place. The year we moved away was the year that "The Warriors" came out... everyone in the whole city thought they were a gang banger.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

For what it's worth, my primary home defense weapon is a Keltec KSG, loaded with 14 rounds of 2 3/4" 00 buck, outfitted with a laser mounted fore grip.

MAC's video was two years ago. There are a few revisions of the KSG with minor changes to my knowledge. However, I can't use a vertical grip on mine without it binding up. The top comment on the video explains exactly why it was unreliable. You need to man handle it. It needs to be racked really hard and fully to function properly. But, it needs a hand stop to avoid the "other" issue KSG owners face.

I've had no issues with mine. No ftf. No injuries from ejected shells. I have a laser foregrip on mine.

Honestly, I can't imagine shooting it without the laser. I like to concentrate on being control of the firearm and look at the red dot.

Honestly, if you need a sight on a hand gun,you need to spend a little more time at the range.

It should be a "point and click" reflex with no doubt in your mind that you will hit your target if its less than 50 feet away.

Perhaps but I've seen many a person (beginners to be sure) unable to hit a target 15 feet away even when they tried to aim the weapon.

And certainly you've read stories in the news about shootouts between police and bad guys, dozens of rounds fired, very few hits.

Handgun, no. I have a few with lasers. Don't particularly like relying on the laser. But they have their place in a home defense scenario.

The KSG is a different animal. It doesn't come with sights, so instead of chosing to install iron sights, I chose the laser foregrip. Let's me shoot a little unconventionally, but can hold it comfortably.

Thats because they are either yanking the trigger, or flinching because of thinking about the recoil. To fix this just takes proper practice. I say proper, because doing the same incorrect things over and over wont help.

Next time you have your pistol out, pick out a target at a reasonable distance, and throw the gun up at the target. Then look down the sights and you should be on target. Like pointing your finger.

Taurus Judge excellent home protection weapon. Alternate the rounds in the cylinder between 410 and 45. You are good to go. I keep 2 410s and the rest 45s. 410s are less lethal, less likely to travel where you don't want them to go, make a hell of a racket, increase the chance of hitting a target in a terrifying situation, then if that doesn't do the trick, 45 it is!!!

.410 will still penetrate a 2.4 wall with 5/8 drywall on both sides with enough force to still do significant injury. And shotgun injuries (at least before traveling through the wall) are more lethal bullets

Nine people (bystanders) hit during a police-involved shootout in NYC a few years ago, all by stray bullets from police officers. Miss by a little or a lot, it really doesn't matter.

Last time at the range, I saw someone fire 5 rounds before finally hitting the bottom edge of a 20"x30" target from about 7 yards. Maybe that explains all of the houses that are shot in MKE. Sometimes, they even hit people.

I know a few retired law enforcement officers, one being a former armorer for his department, and I've seen all of them say most cops can't shoot. Most only draw fire their weapons when it's time to qualify.

I took a shooting class years ago and the instructor (local officer) mentioned about a shooting they had. 2 guys in a small kitchen had a shootout with semi auto pistols. Both fired every round in their gun at the other. 0 hits...

I grew up in a suburb of MKE and after putting up with 14 years of BS in MKE, I moved back. The father of one of the kids I grew up with joined the local PD in 1960 and in the '60s, I don't think they had more than 7 officers because we just didn't have many problems. All of the officers competed in competitive shooting and all won several trophies. Now, who knows? I saw the current chief at the grocery store and asked about where they train- he said they go to the range regularly.

It was very peaceful here and now, it's a constant string of police calls on the scanner, for all kinds of crimes. Two nights ago, three car dealers lost at least 10 cars, five from one dealership. Last night, two dealerships in MKE lost another ten and they're saying the two incidents may be related. The local PD now has a sub-station in the mall two miles East of my house
