Just wondering if anyone has tried the new Araknis Network routers or Wap's. If so, how are they working?

I do.
No issues as of yet.
Router setup was easy; functions are in plain language.
There are still some things that they need to work on, but for resi jobs, it's got all the features.

We are using the AP's, routers and even some of the managed switches. So far, no issues. As Mario said, easy to deploy for any of our techs (looks like Pakedge/Engenius), easy to enroll in OVRC, and very reliable so far. For basic installs and simple automation jobs they have been fantastic, and having everything captured in OVRC is great. OVRC isn't powerful yet from a networking perspective, but the visibility is fantastic.

I've been using them. Tested in my own house and now have 3 or 4 full systems (router, managed POE switch, and APs) in the field. This week I just ripped out a network that consisted of a Phone company provided TP Link router, a couple small switches, and a mix of routers in AP mode and a UNIFI AP. the Elan system had all sorts of glitches because the remotes had trouble connecting to the controller with that mix. So far, the araknis seems to have fixed it.

and ovrc is great

How is the hand off between multiple APs? I have a customer with a guest house 50-60 from the main house, and you have to manually switch networks when you go out to the guest house. I'm hoping to find something that will allow a seamless switch over once you get closer to the second (stronger) AP.

Then you will be looking for a system with roaming capabilities. Ruckus with a zone director or Aruba Instant AP's with virtual controller would be great choices.

I have been testing the 300 series WAP at my house. i have a router as well, but I really don't see the advantage of it over my existing CRS125.

Anyway the WAP is being powered up by a snap POE switch and the performance is OK, not great.
For what the MSRP is I can do a Ruckus or a Meraki WAP.

So for me unless something changes I don't see switching to it.

We use them regularly for none Pakedge jobs. We use bot the 100 and 300 series and we really like them so far. I don't have any throughput data or range tests but I know they work.

I just installed their router at my own house and will be putting it through the rigors of life for a while.

I have a 300 series AP that ive been testing for 8 or so months in my house along with a 16 port managed switch.

For whatever reason iphones (my 6, my moms 5s,my GFs 6) will stay connected but will not go out to the internet, but all local functions work. My computer tends to drop off the network here and there and my dads dell work computer has real issues connecting. It has the latest firmware too...Ive talked to others and nobody else seems to have this issue..

I shut off the 5ghz broadcast because range/performance was poor (its just 5ghz) and devices really hated it, but my luck with 5ghz spectrum is not that good even with RUCKUS so i dont think its a snap issue.

Snap replaced my first 16port managed switch with another one due to a strange grounding issue that effected it in my rack. the 2nd one has been working just fine with no issues, other then fan noise but its no louder/quieter then a cisco switch I replaced it with!

I have a router here during their beta program, it works. its a router but it had to be reset a few times so I pulled it out and put my edgemax back in. I keep meaning to get the release firmware on there to give it another go since its not fair to knock a device that was in BETA. I liked the setup features of it and LOVED that it came with rackmount ears.

Ive got 4 systems out there now with their router and WAPs. All have been super stable and perform well. I all honesty I still prefer (and suggest) Ruckus first if there are more than two WAPs for their management, but the Araknis stuff has been great for us so far.

I also did the router beta and and love the simple setup. I'm no expert so if i can do it anyone can. I have the router, 8 port poe switch, 1 100 series and 1 300 wap running beautifully in my home.

Brendon have you done the firmware update on the AP? They had some issues with AirPrint and maybe bonjour. The update has the AirPrint working well.

I just installed a WK-1 at home from Pakedge and it's awesome.

Thanks all for sharing your great comments. We strive on your feedback to make our products better.

I will address a couple of comments shared here:

1- The handoff between multiple APs - please be on the lookout for more news on this front later this month. Our team has worked very hard on enhancing the handoff performance knowing it's a pain point dealers want to address.

2- Cloud features via OvrC - we will continue to enhance the experience on OvrC for Araknis products and the roadmap is very exciting to say the least. We will demo some of the new features at CEDIA so please stop by and check them out.

@longshot16 - please shoot me an email ([email protected]) so I can get you on the beta list for our upcoming 500-series AP. I'm sure it will blow your WK-1 out of the water :)

@3PedalMINI - we have made some hardware changes since your beta unit, the available firmware on the website now (1.0.3.5) will work but the upcoming firmware in the next 2 weeks will not. Let me know if you want to swap your unit. As for AirPlay issues for APs, we have fixed them in 1.0.06 FW as longshot16 mentioned

@faster48 - glad to hear everything is working as expected

@ichbinbose - please reach out to me ([email protected]) to chat about what you would like to see changing

@lippavisual and @GLS - please be on the lookout for more updates on this front.

@Fins - glad to hear everything is working as expected. Please make sure to send any suggestions/recommendations our way!

@KeithDBrown - more exciting news coming on Araknis/OvrC front!

@Mario - I know you've been discussing with Ajit your suggestions and comments. Please keep them coming. Everything we received from dealers gets evaluated and discussed internally. I think you will find some of your suggestions implemented in the next router firmware.

Thanks again for your thoughts. If you have any suggestions or you want to be part of our beta program, please reach out to me.

@3PedalMINI - Do you have VLANS? There is a setting I have confirmed with SnapAV that will occasionally change the DNS of the AP so that connected clients cannot find the router or the internet.

I had a good exp with the 300n on a flat VLANless network, but had this issue consistently on a VLAN network.
