Well with my luck being what it is, I pick up a fireball to control the Sony 777 and the holding company files BK a day after i set everything up. Is labeling the DVDs and CDs is a pain in the butt on its own let a lone adding meta data. Is there a way to point the server to alternative sources to pull this data?
I guess i can use KODI or EMBY and the FIREBALL added to list of sources - after that label the DVDs in the format the devices would pull all meta data and then go back and delete the dates and underscores but that sounds like a ton of work also. What is the easiest way to get my library accurate at this point?

is this a ThreadNecro from 2008? o.O

There were never enough DVDM's out on the wild for anyone to care to hack it to use an alternative database.

Manual entry is tedious and slow. and often doesnt save properly.

why in this day and age would anyone go back to physical media like this?

Rip them and use PLEX. Or take the fireball out and just use the 777 until it dies.

I would guess it's for the same reason that vinyl is experiencing a comeback.

Not everyone WANTS to stream audio or video.

Hell, some people still use their VCR, and some still listen to the radio...

Go figure.

I did a double take on the post date as soon as I read "Fireball".
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I am ripping everything all my music is done, about 1/4 w the blu rays and then ill do the DVDs. I figured I would figure out a way to have it populate fast after I labeled them the way Kodi needs to be labeled and add as another source. The house has 8 TVs and if there is a lot of streaming going on the s12 could send the data over component. I am almost done with a custom system so all the elan stuff may get solid off soon. Plus the Fireball and 777 sold with 400 discs and programmed would get me a bit more cash on ebay then just the separate units.

actually not all of my music is ripped yet and I would use this for CDs since it seems to pull from gracenotes instead of Escients DB - Can anyone confirm if it will pull all CD data or is that feature useless also? Lossless rips only sound as good as the DACs pushing it and for whole house music, it starts getting expensive. I am building my own custom solution for theater, automation and distribution for high end applications. The theater isn't being done by a typical prepro and the conversion for that zone alone is over 4k as I need 16 channels. The other ADDA for 24 is 5k and gives me 24 channels so basically 2 more basic theaters and 4 stereo zones or 12 stereo zones. The home has 3 surround sound set ups currently and is getting expanded to at least 5 indoor and possibly 1 outdoor and the system revolves around a bunch of embedded systems so hoping a way to matrix the ADDAs as most zones will not be working at the same time but any time another layer is added, the signal is degraded so may end up springing for another one at a minimum to maintain the integrity and not cut corners.
I have no problems entering /saving stuff manually for movies it is time consuming and changing the root on the firmware would ideal. Does anyone know how to get into the root directory or any of the programming menus and I will recode alternative paths?
