Has anyone played with this before? Client did an "upgrade" and now I'm trying to control this POS. Don't see any ir window, as the front is a solid dark plastic. The box has no buttons at all. WTF!!!

If it comes with an ir remote, you simply put a piece of cardboard across the front and slowly move it to one direction while pushing channel up. When the channel changes, stop. Attach emitter.

It's their new "voice support" remote. The box responds to "some" IR codes for the basic stuff, like chan +/-, numerics and basic navigation, but all the advanced stuff is RF. They are a pain in the a**! Gotta be careful of repeats on the IR timing as well, super easy to get double digits and menu moves.....

Make sure your code sets are proper. URC has codesets specifically for line-of-sight and RF control and using the wrong one will get you issues like you describe.

Used all sets in the URC database- same results. This thing has a rf/bluetooth remote for the "voice command" which is all the advanced functions. These boxes are brand new, and of course the first customer "upgraded" are all the oldsters in the mobile home parks....

My girlfriend just moved and she got this box at her new place....

The remote is voice command crap, found out some of the commands are IR/RF

Power is definitely RF....the box has frozen on us twice just watching live tv. Doing a quick read it sounds like it can be either manufactured by Pace-Cisco or Samsung.

I'll be over tomorrow, I can tinker with it for you if you want...she has to go deal with something at her landlords for a half hour so I'll have some time!

If only Tivo made a cable box that could be easily integrated and controlled.

We've put in several of the voice control boxes at this point, with only the same X1 issues that plague all of the boxes. Delayed commands and commands that don't do anything, despite the remote light registering an ir code. Oh and the odd box that will type random zeros when pushing other buttons, periodically open the guide or turn themselves off with other codes.

I figured it out. If you look at the right in the middle of the front panel, follow it down to the bottom. You will see a very small rectangle which is the IR receiver.

The IR window is at the bottom of the box toward the front in the middle.

I need to revive this for a minute.

I ran into the XG2v2-S (samsung I believe) this week and need to find the right code set to use for Pro Control. I did find the IR window and had the emitter on it. I tried the a few different code sets and no luck. I've looked under Samsung, Pace, Xfinity.... no good. Surprisingly, I haven't had too many issues with Xfinity and Pro Control yet, until now.

Thanks,
Tom

Press EXIT for 5 seconds.
Press Arrow down twice.
Press the number 2 once.

This will bring up the X1 service screen. Upon that coming up, navigate to Manufacturer then to Host. On that screen, you shall see who made the box.

Manufacturers are really trying to make our job as difficult as possible aren't they.

And why do they think that voice command is the way of the future?
