Why are you running in HDTV mode only to watch an SDTV Monitor? Use composite and run the receiver in SDTV mode.

If the display will only accept composite it is not an HDTV and will not accept 720p or 1080i HD signals. Just feed it the composite out of the SA box. Whatever display you have that IS an HDTV, feed it the component (or DVI)

the composite output on that SA box only works when you're archiving recorded programs to a VCR.

Key Digital makes a device that MIGHT solve the problem, but it's $4000

Model: KD-FIRE1080P

Maybe Joe is concerned because the 8000 does not output both component and composite at the same time. That means, if he is using the one cable box to feed both monitors, he can only get one or the other but not both at the same time. Is this the problem that you are experiencing, Joe?

tried for three weeks to find a converter for the same issue, 8000hd DVR box to a remote LCD. Could not find a downconverter, just upconverters..

If the remote LCD has a RGB or VGA input, you mingt consider a scan converter which would allow you to use that input

My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Read the instructions on the book... I have dealt with this many times, I believe it is the green on the componant that will display your composite video... you can only do componant OR composite... I can't remember if there is a setting inside the box you have to change or not..

which brings me to the same question that the others asked, why are you using an HD box for a non HD display?

I have an 8000HD DVR from TW Cable.

If you are using two display devices at once, try this, Use the componant to your primary display and then add a cheap VCR you can run coax from the box to that, and composite from there to the LCD display...

It's ugly but functional

Why fight with it.

Mr. Customer. I'm sorry you will have to get another box from your cable company.

If you charge the customer for all of your time invested in not only finding a solution but also implementing that solution He could pay for that extra box rentral for quite some time with the money he would save by just getting another box.

I don't think the 8000HD has a channel 3 output either so that won't work. Best solution is to upgrade the 2nd display and distribute the component video output, that's where we're all heading anyway.

I faced this issue with a Dish DVR921. The menu allows you to change from component out to composite out. Since we can distribute composite to both the HDTV and the standard tv, we just built in a macro that makes the menu change from 1080i to 480i and another macro to go the other way.

When we are watching both we use the composite out. When we want the best picture and are watching the HDTV, we use the component out.

the reason for using a HD box for a non-HD display is that the SA 8000 is the only DVR available to time warner cable customers.

Now... I just remembered- it DOES have a s-video output- try a s-vid to rca adapter and see if they will work at the same time

No, S-video does not work either. No NTSC output when HD is active.

My app is In-Wall touch screens...... The big AMX panels can now do HD input, but I have a lot of Jobs with 6" & 7" panels that need Composite or S-Video still
