I keep waiting for someone to announce a different UHD format. Nothing frames the the CI industry better than a good old fashioned format war. It's just inherent in this biz. Hell, why not 3 competing UHD formats in the next year (Mfgs? Are you listening?)

Of course, I opted for HD-DVD because my friend and employer at the time "assured" me it was going to win the format wars. He was so sure, he bought everyone in the company a Toshiba top of the line player for Christmas.

. Anyone else have HD-DVD buyers remorse besides me?

hmmm, Toshiba and pretty much no one else vs. Sony, Samsung, Pioneer and most major movie studios.
How the hell anyone got behind HDDVD is completely beyond me.
Yes, I was behind BluRay from day one after reviewing the players involved.

I think I will sorta disagree on this.

I think the eventual winner was decided by which studios got behind releasing content, not which mfgs were making the hardware. HDDVD had the studio lead early in that race, but then a few of those studios announced dual participation and then BD pulled into the lead and never looked back.

If you recall, Samsung even made a player that supported both formats. I had one. It was a piece of $hit, like all other BD players, but it did play both formats

I agree that the studios ultimately had to pick a side and that was what put the final nail in the coffin for HDdvd. But after about 6 months into the "race" I personally felt that BluRay was going to be the winner, based on how many studios were hedging their bets with both formats, picking sides and how many manufactures were on each side.
To me, at the time, it was just an obvious choice.

I also knew someone that was a die hard HDdvd supporter at the time that knew nothing of electronics, but was the head electronics buyer for a company - so that helped me confirm the choice to not get behind HDdvd.
