one of the lines when it boots up should say failed. The real reason for this and some of the quirks with urc is that the programmers/engineers are Korean and some time things translate differently between languages.

I don't understand the battery issue, as this thing was actually an MX900 without numeric buttons, and the batteries in the MX900 hold up pretty darn well.

I have one as well. It's been in a drawer for there or four years now.

Holds the bottom of the drawer in place. ;-)

Right, except this one had different button and screen lighting, with three different colored LEDs that could be blended in any proportion for a variety of colors. When the battery issues arose, they recommended just using a single LED color to conserve batteries. Helped a little. Still wished they had figured out how to fix it.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Some of the MX900's chewed through batteries like a porn star's vibrator. I've had more than one customer ask if I had stock in Duracell after selling them a 900

Yeah, the MX-900 isn't that great on battery life either. In fact, URC remotes in general are rather hard on alkaline batteries. I recently bought a wad of quality NiMH AAA cells to replace them. After a couple discharge cycles, even with the lower voltage they seem to last about as long as the alkalines ever did.
