I need to know if anyone else is experiencing any issues with pakedge? I have a couple of Savant systems out there that need to be reset more often then I would like. I don't seem to be getting much help from the factory at this point.
Let me know if anyone else has had the similar problems

You are on the right track with your thinking - Savant requires a SOLID network to function properly. I have experience with C4 and Savant and both vendors will tell you to first get your network right before troubleshooting further.

I can't comment on pakedge as I don't have any experience with their current product offering. I will say when we brought Savant into our mix I had to change from Cisco SMB access points to Ubiquity UAP PROs due to problems with how the APs handled bonjour. Network wiring could be an issue too - cascading too many switch ports can lead to problems with latency. Do you admin your own networks or sub this out? Or worse do you have to work with the client's IT guy?

You may want to convert one of your projects to a different network vendor and see if the problem goes away. Although Savant doesn't recommend any particular vendor, I've read on the boards that people have had good luck with Apple Extremes. I personally use the Cisco RV320 router, Cisco SG200 series switches and Ubiquity UAP Pro APs and have zero network issues across multiple Savant installations.

Nope, never an issue except one bricked router that may have been our fault during a firmware update; covered under warranty...but then again we don't do Savant, so take that for what it's worth.

I remember from a Pakedge training class that they mentioned that Savant changed something that cause some sort of incompatibility.  I didn't pay much attention to this at the time since I'm not a Savant dealer, but I know this was brought up.

You are saying that you called Pakedge and they weren't any help?

We are pleased to announce an update to the wireless connectivity issues some people have observed between the Savant SUR500 and the Pakedge wireless access points. A joint team of engineers at Savant and Pakedge have worked closely together to study and resolve the problem.

Solution:
  • Savant SUR-500:
Please download and install the latest firmware. At least:  App 7.2, Android 4.0.3, Firmware 3.2.34, OS 1.2.4  they may now be even more recent updates from Savant, but your firmware should be no older than the aforementioned versions.

  • Pakedge WK-1, WK-1-B, WK-1-O:
Please download and install firmware version 1.05. Firmware is updateable from the WK-1 management menu (internet connection required) or through our Dealer Portal. This firmware update should resolve any Savant compatibility issues.

  • For Pakedge W7 access points:
Please download and install firmware version 1.17.

All Pakedge firmware can be downloaded from the Pakedge Dealer Portal.bakpak

We hope this helps!

We are using the W6 series WAPs and they are running the current firmware and still having an issue.

This is the exact issue we are having. I got this from the dealer portal on the Pakedge site. The fix is not working. We are running version 1.9
DateVersionNotes
12/16/20141.9
Fixed issue with SSID broadcasting but no data passing. After updating to this firmware verison, please factory default unit.
Previously the SSID would broadcast and devices were able to connect to the WiFi and obtain a valid IP Address; however, no data was passing through.

Hi JJackson,

I've sent you a private message so we can help find a solution for you.

Please call Gloria - her direct number is included in the message I sent you.

Also, I don't see any recent support tickets. It looks like the last time you called the support team was early in 2014. If this is incorrect please let us know when you call. We would like to make sure all notes on this matter are reconciled.

Thank you,
We Care Team, Pakedge Device & Software, Inc.

Been a Savant dealer for 5+ years. Use Ubiquiti. Savant isn't the issue, its Pakedge. Not saying Pakedge isn't a good product, but most others work with Savant better with no issues what so ever. And they are less expensive.
