Now that they seemed to have folded and left dealers in a lurch and reopened under a different name, has anyone on here used any of their products? Will you try the new company? Julie will not let anyone talk about them and Ira has gone radio silent on the matter...

For reference, FunHouse is referring to this article:

[Link: cepro.com]

IMO anyone who would follow this guy on his new venture is a fool. Furthermore, anyone who thinks ce pro has any value and credibility is a fool. Locking down the comments when shit gets real is a coward move. Nothing being said was un-true, nothing was derogatory or even remotely vile in nature. I must assume it was locked due to threats of the new Bay audio pulling their advertising from the magazine. Who gives a shit...I can count off 20 other boutique lines that I could get the same stuff from. Keep on keeping real ce "pro".

+1

I've always felt cepro was a complete joke and pandered to their advertisers. Anybody buying from the new company is an idiot.

Seemed like an incredibly slimy move IMO. I dont understand how anyone that dealt with the old company would feel good about moving forward with the new one.

CePro is nothing compared to Consumer Reports. Here is a magazine that specifically markets how it is unbiased reviews, consumer oriented, and professional conduct. While blatantly getting paid by manufactures to print advertisement reviews. I can't think of a dirtier, crooked publication than Consumer Reports. And to think, there are STILL idiots to this day that read that and believe everything in it.

CePro might have to watch what it says and reports on because of certain advertising interest. But it isn't near as bad as a lot of other publications out there. Unless you have the money to completely fund a media outlet yourself, you are always going to get some bias with your news. Simply a fact of life - learn it and learn to process it (take with a grain of salt). Much like forums and the unknown poster's of expertise.

We let the earlier comments in, and they were pretty representative of the later comments, i.e., that Bay Audio screwed dealers. Just don't see the need to keep letting through all the comments on Ira being a scumbag ... all from casual observers who did nothing more than read the news item.  Such comments don't add anything new to the conversation. We haven't blocked comments, we just haven't opened subsequent comments that have nothing useful to add.

We take LOTS of crap all the time from companies or individuals who want us to delete comments, but we still leave them up if they aren't patently false or libelous.

CE Pro is not 60 minutes. We're still human. Yeah, we care about people's feelings.

Having said that ... I reviewed the comments posted after I put up the notice about not accepting any more emails that start with "scumbag" ... or some such thing.

I opened a few of them back up after revisiting them ... reluctantly. They're simply mean and unfruitful, but we do have an obligation to the community.

Please do post worthwhile comments on our story, and we will let them through. Flat-out hateful comments aren't going to cut it.

And to those who think CE Pro is a "big joke," you are in good company. As X10's Dave Rye famously wrote, "Julie you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about."

ok - fair enough - but have you reached out to Ira for a comment and if so what was his response? If no response then what should we make of that? I hope he is at CEDIA so we can ask him in person..

I haven't found anyone to answer my original question so it does not seem that he had a strong following to begin with. Hopes that a new company will correct this are admirable..

Speak up if you ever had a Bay Audio RMA. Was there a manufacturing issue that caused all this?

I have never used bay audio, just didn't fit for me. With that said, I know a dealer in Virginia, he does amazing work, honest guy, a lot of respect for him, who was a big fan of bay. It was pretty much all he tried to use.

I will use his opinion on their product. Fantastic build and sound quality. No clue about their service.

This is all I have.
