Maybe....

What's the plan for a get together?

Friday evening, or Saturday afternoon/evening, for food, drinks and tall tales?

Where and when?

Friday evening is probably the best bet for a get together? if you guys cant make it then ill probably head over to smokey mountains on friday morning and stay in gatlinburg! otherwise if we can get some peeps together Ill make ashville my "home base'

Friday would be the best for me since I'm about an hour and a half from Asheville.

I know you're in the boonies, but where the hell are you? Murphy?

If so, that's more like being in Georgia....

Reading up on the "Tail of the Dragon". It seems like it's no where close to what it used to be.

Average speed, if you're lucky, will be maybe 20 to 25 MPH. A lot of people have found it to not be worth the out of the way trip.

Me included.

I've found that running Hwy 8 north from Stuart, Va. to the Blue Ridge Parkway as much, if not more, fun drive. You want a curvy road, this most definitely is.

After all the curves, you take a leisurely 1 hr 30 min drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, get off on Hwy 220 and head north to Roanoke.

We do this when the leaves are turning, and it makes for a great day trip.

TOTD is absolutely not what it used to be. Now it is just an extremely curvy, incredibly monitored road, with traffic. IMO, not worth the trouble. If you have never seen it, maybe, otherwise..............

as for the get together. im down for whatever. if its friday, i could be there around 7:30-8PM. Saturday, pretty much any time, preferably not during the Bama game.

Also, Brendon, if you are getting to Gatlinburg, plan on a drive through Cades Cove. Really cool, tons of wild life. Bears, Elk, etc.

Nah, if you're in Gatlinburg, it'll be "A F$&#ING Lard ASS Yankee ran into my BMW!"...

Gatlinburg is a crass commercialism stain on an otherwise nice area.

Guys, How about we all meet up in someplace like West Jefferson?

There haven't been elk in the eastern United States in at least 100 years. But leave it up to Brendon to find one with a car. Lol

Btw, before doing the parkway, I suggest you watch the British top gear episode where they drove the parkway. Watching them cruise a Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes at 45 mph was painful. Then in the middle Jeremy says, "we knew the whole thing couldn't be 45, and we were right... The speed limit dropped to 35mph"
