The snap 12", 8 Ohm works great, provides a LOT of good, deep bass. Haven't had any issues with them in 2 years either.

Has the snap 12" buried SW been out that long now?

To answer some on else's question. It is a Niles mono subwoofer amp with a x over, but redundant because it's fed by a LFE from a Denon rcvr.

I guess I could an inline 20 he high pass filter to eliminate any sub sonics but I'm really after field experience of other buried subs. James is out because I'm not going to become a dealer for one sub.

Snap, TruAudio, NEAR and Sonance are currently on my radar
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

I have 2 of Snap's burial subs in my back yard and am really happy with them.

I hear ya! I am too old to shovel anymore.

Yea, The Snap one is a beast.

Replaced a couple of the bomb-tombs, nothing different than the bandpass boxes back from the Car Audio days. Speakercraft is really good about it.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

That's just because they want to sell you the amp. It'll work fine with any good amplifier.

But using the DSP filters prevents extremely low (and higher) frequencies from reaching the speaker and that's part of good system design- allowing the drivers to work within their capabilities, not trying to make them do what the user/integrator wants. It also compresses and limits the dynamics, which is needed outdoors.

The Sonarray, Niles, Snap, Skywalker and Origin Acoustics "Malibu-style" outdoor speakers are available with this amp- a simple power amp is less able to do what the Crown amp does if there's no way to send to the subwoofer the signal that works best without killing it.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

At 120-lbs, I'm interested in checking this out.

You could easily put a 70v transformer inline and have lots of options for buried subs.

I think crestron's version is 8ohm but would need to double check,
do wino hue?

Use the Snap. I've done those and the terra, and there is no comparison. The snap puts out prodigious, authoritative bass, and the terra is pretty wimpy with its lightweight injection molded enclosure.
