Not 70 volt. Especially need reliability. Replacing a Niles that keeps shitting out on me. Tired of digging up that POS.

I have a dedicated subwoofer amp.

Is the Snap buried sub avail in 4-8 ohm? Is it reliable? What about TruAudio? I've sold several Sonance 70v 10 & 12" and never had to replace them. But they are only 70v (except the Sonarray, which I think is only a package?)

Can you just bypass the transformer?

Last time I looked at a Sonance I think the transformer is sealed inside the subwoofer enclosure

Why not 70 volt? Are you implying that a speaker that comes as a 70 volt model won't cut it?

Perhaps that's true. I helped install product at Nobu in Malibu, where a couple of outdoor subwoofers are matched into the 70 volt system. Killer sound, and that with the surf less than a hundred feet away.

Try Tannoy. Soundtube. sorry I don't know model numbers.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

What about the NEAR subs? They're available in 8 Ohm or 70V

Because my amp is not a 70 volt amp. The satellites which work fine ( and driven by a separate amp) are not 70v and I am replacing a 4-8 ohm buried sub. Please keep it On topic. Thank you

Origin's 8" Sub is 70V/8ohm switchable. Snap's ES-LS-BSUB-12-CPR is 8ohm

Has anyone that has installed the Snap or NEAR had any post installation issues?

Haven't had issues with the Snap burial woofer. Oldest installs are getting close to 2 years. It seems really well built. However you are supposed to use their DSP amp (CDi1000). I don't know what it would sound like without it.

What he said. Even their little 8" is impressive. One day I might be able to hear the 21".

I've read of good things about the Speakercraft Boom Tomb, though haven't tried it.

What is the amplifier that's driving the sub? Has the speaker been checked, to find the failure mode? If it's being overpowered, is the voice coil de-laminating? Is it dying because of over-excursion? Try using a HP filter at 35 Hz- outdoors, extremely low bass will only kill the speaker faster. Bass players often use a filter at 35Hz because of this.

That's just because they want to sell you the amp. It'll work fine with any good amplifier.
