I have a client that is requesting and audible deterrent device for the outside of his business.
The business backs up to a river/storm drain system that is a haven for the homeless and other riff raff.
He is having and issues with people defficating on and around the property. Being a custom food processing facility this can't continue
I am only concerned with the device, not local impact regulations, neighbor concerns, already know that info.
My search has turned up plenty of dog and bird audible detergents but not people. I am aware of the sonic youth system but that does not apply here.
I guess I could rig up a PA and just loop U2 songs, that should do it!
Anyhow has anyone come across something designed to play annoying tones that could be put on a timer or even remotely activated.
Thank you for taking the time

There is tech out there that will cause people to crap themselves with sound waves. But somehow I don't think that would work ... There is also audio tech that can cause people's insides to become so agitated they would leave so they would feel better. Both of those are used by military for crowd reduction.

The 7-11 at Hollywood and LaBrea, some four or five blocks west of the Chinese Theater, chased away panhandlers and other hangers-out by playing baroque music on speakers in front of the store. Bach, Gabrieli, Handel, Corelli, dozens of others wrote music that is trash-repellent.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Tell him to hire an HR manager to stand by the river and try to recruit. They will be gone in about 5 minutes.

You know the sounds on Star Trek that incapacitated the crew? It's not hard and you would just need a mid-range horn, an amplifier and a cheap media player. Find two frequencies that cause a strong beat frequency.

Or, you could get a set of air horns from a semi and mount them where they can't be damaged- if you need to install a heavy grate over them, so be it. A couple of relays, a motion sensor, a car battery and a solar charging cell- done. Annoying and loud as hell, not expensive and you can set the ON time using a pulse stretcher (these are also known as a 555 timer circuit and they're frequently used in car alarm systems).

Add a few Zenon flashing lights, too.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

This sound might get the point across -

Axis has an IP horn that can store files and can be triggered. You can use their cameras to sense motion and trigger the horn. You may have to reach out to Axis for specifics, but I've seen it done at a site.

There already is a fence, but they climb over. We are considering Razor Wire, but have concerns being the litigious state we are in where even criminals get the big pay off for being a criminal. Crime does pay in California.

The stupid part is these people have 50 miles of river bed to do their business in. Stick it to the man I guess.

How about something really off the wall:

Something like the Xantech AC1 connected to a water pump, triggered by a PIR.

Anyone walks into the area, there's a nice flood of cold water.

Only need to worry if they start bringing a bar of soap with them... :-)

If they have a fence put up an electric fence for cows etc, you ever touch one of those? It will make you jump, you don't need razor wire.
