Those were the days. Although the brevity during the early years brought its own level of frustration.

These days I need to add 3 or 4 zeros to that, and her sometimes commenting "would you hurry up? I reached the mountain 10 minutes ago"

At least that poor girl learned how to reach the mountain top without you! :)

None. And oddly enough, you guys are acting like you're captivated by the discussion but unable to participate, so you snipe. Typical, just typical.

What is it about technical questions that make you wonder how women react to me? Can't you tell the difference between technical and the rest (the 99.9+%) of the world? No wonder you beat up on engineers! You cannot conceive of having multiple abilities!

We deal with the 99.9% of the world, we don't live in a fantasy world where we "think" we're actually smarter than we are. I usually avoid your posts because they are 100 times longer than they need to be.

I don't know who you're trying to impress but it's definitely not working. Maybe you should find a forum where nobody knows you and maybe they'll think you actually know what you're talking about. The rest of us have read the drivel you put out and know exactly who you are.

Well it's accurate but a little verbose - don't think it will catch on.

If it does I will be sure everyone knows you suggested it.

But technically, it's correct if the land contours are ignored since gravity is assumed to be from the point where the plumb bob is suspended to the Earth's center.

Ever talked with anyone who worked on huge buildings? The distances can be so large the vertical members won't be parallel, due to the curvature of the Earth. They're plumb at that point, but not aligned with the others.

I didn't come up with that- I heard it from someone I knew who worked in construction.

My niece (twin sisters daughter) emailed me yesterday...Perfect timing for this thread.

I like Porter Cable and Bosch, but some of the Makita and Hitachi are pretty good, too.

Ohhhhh, network type. Sorry.

Boy I wish CEDIA would hurry up and get here, so we can have a beer summit, in a big circle, and get all this crap worked out. The we can really laugh. The ticket to talk is that you have to have consumed two beers. No talking until two beers(or drinks) are consumed. The you can throw your two cents worth in.

Screw you, you know I don't drink anymore.
Just try to keep me quiet.

Ive learned in sales, day to day life or with family even though im highly technical I need to dumb shit down to the basis of

router = device that allows you to connect to the internet...
AVR= Switcher and speaker supply (seriously)
Remote = Magical unicorn that allows you to control these scary black boxes.

Etc: you get the idea...sadly for some this is still to technical.

No kidding; yesterday, my client was trying to document the username passwords because husband keeps forgetting them.

First, she could not understand how WAP (or wireless internet as she's prefers to call it) didn't have both username and password. She ended up calling SSID the username.

Second, she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she had two internet thingies, the WAP and the router.
(Husband's fault for buttin in and telling her about router I just replaced).
No, I didn't tell her about the 3rd one (cable modem).

In the end I told her she only had the one (WAP) and everything else were my block boxes to make magic happen.

She was happy with that, and so was I.

It is like those "things" you see on facebook with words written backwards, or upside down, or with no vowels, etc...but your brain "figures it out" for you, even though it is not "right".

I love those things; they always say that you're special if you can read them, but I just can't belive that since I can read them just fine and I'm not the brightest bulb in the house.
