I know. But thanks for telling me you are younger than me if you don't also remember the Fat Boys. ;)

Must see for me as well. I'm very surprised at the number of hip-hop fans on here!

Some of my favorites are:

A tribe called quest
Dre, biggie, pac, cube
All of the 213 members, specially nate dogg
Atmosphere, Fugees

I could go on and on!

I turned 40 in June. Planet Rock Afrika Bambaataa is the first rap song that i heard. I didn't know what it was. Then White Lines from grand master flash. Then "The Show" with Doug E Fresh then it was like the flood gates opened and it became difficult to keep up with them all.

A couple i can remember that stand out...

Almost forgot... Note the racist comment from the liberal poster boy.

Bruce...please explain what "being like bad assed black dudes" means. I would love to hear your insight.

When I see white dudes rolling down the street listening to their bad assed rap music, trying to look tough, and not really ever having experienced what blacks have had to experience, I think back on that opening scene in Office Space, when the white wimpy guy is rocking rap in his little sub compact car in traffic...

... Do you recall that scene? It speaks volumes for the white priveleged dudes, who live with their parents.... rolling down the avenue, trying soooo hard to look black with their gangsta baseball caps, smoking blunts, giving hand signals, wearing wife beater t-shirts, sagging jeans, bumping car stereos with the gangsta rims... And they have NO idea of what the black inner city experience is really like, and what they have to deal with is about... but, they think they are pretty bad-assed. They try, but have nev er experienced the anger and persecution the blackj kids have had to endure. LOL

It's pretty amusing, just sayin' --- I watched my son and his buddies go through that phase. Thank god, they got over it, and grew out of that phase.

So anyone listening to rap music has to be black or is acting like they are black. Got it.

Yep. The clothing, hats, pimped out cars, sagging jeans, crooked straight brimmed baseball caps, gold chains, wife beater t-shirts, hi top Jordans... DOn't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about!

Well, I believe you are from Chi-town. I grew up in a predominately black area. You cant snow the snow-man. My school was 8% caucasian. I had no problem with the "brothers", and still don't. Grew up with them.

I just have to laugh at the kids from the 'burbs caught up in inner city black culture, trying to emulate that experience... Again that scene in Office Space is priceless.

As far from racist as you can imagine here. I'm just saying it has always been fascinating to see the rich white kids trying to re-create the black inner - city experience, when they have no clue, but wanna think of them selves as inner city bad asses. Ice, ice baby. Macklemore... yeah OK

The fact that rap music touches a nerve is fine, but I have always had an issue with the white kids trying to look and sound like inner city gang members.

Justen Beiber, anyone?
