How does the wife like that story :-)

I didn't tell her. Normally we laugh about stuff like this but in this case she worked with her so I decided to let well enough alone.

Large installation, audio, video, phones, gate. Well educated, high achieving.

He: "I need to be able to make phone calls on a line that she can't listen on."

She: "He's listening to my phone calls."

We gave him a special line. Her scenario was unlikely, given the phone system, but he was capable of installing a bug somewhere.

They split soon after the installation was complete.

As you can imagine, I then had two customers for a while (she got the house), but both were a pain. Eventually, I fired them. I hope that the joint custody kid turned out OK. Mom cast Dad as the axis of evil. Other contractors on the site held out little hope for the kid. One predicted that the kid would become well known to the local constable in the teen years.

This happens far too often, and its a DAMN shame people can't be grown ups and put their differences aside for their children. They don't have to like each other, in fact they can hate each others guts and wish them dead, but they should NOT be poisoning their kids views of their other parents with their own. Let them form their own opinion. I can't stand people that do that.

The rest is a long story but I wound up firing them and losing I can't remember how much, a couple grand anyway, but enough to keep me pissed off about it.

Craig.

Been there.

Pro baseball player burned me for a couple thousand right after he had signed a contract for 3 mil a year.

Worst part was making an extra trip to their house to do a freebie favor, asking for the final check, and having his trash wife, in front of him, telling me no way they were paying the bill, and "let this be a lesson to you.".

After that, the only way I'd do any work for these overpaid jerks, would be 100% up front.

Mario, You must of missed the time stamps on the actual text messages themselves. And the date at the top of the message box.

No need to respond, just wanted to point out the error.

KOT

You didn't quote any posts so I don't know if you're referring to my message to Bruce or my Text message with Mike.
So now I'm confused -- which happens surprisingly easily :-)

I think that he thinks the time stamp on the post is the posters time zone. It's not as far as i know. I just tested from Long Island, NY at 5:08PM. Forum time stamp shows 4:08PM.

Point being that even though Bruce's post shows 7:40 AM he actually posted at 5:40 AM.

I think KOT was referring to the time in the screenshot of Mario's text message, which says 5 something AM. Mario said he had to walk over to him. I could be wrong but I think that is what he was referring to.

In this case I'm not sure it was Goalie who was a dick. I think just the handler was hit who knows. All and all I think it was a lesson well worth the cost. I have not been burned since. My ass is always covered and I never accept pressure to start a job before a cheque is cashed. They need me and will wait.

ME: Your blu ray player can't play to zone 2 unless we add a D/A converter. I have a converter on the van if you think you would use it ...

CUSTOMER: No, we're fine without it. We just want to hear cable.

... one month later ...

CUSTOMER: How come we can't get sound on the blu ray outside?

Actual SMS exchange with a buddy that works in very high tech MFG facility working as equipment tech on multi million dollar tools:

I had to walk over to talk to him in person because I really thought that he was just fuc*ing with me, but no, he was serious.
He honestly didn't know there were many different types of cables.
After some additional ribbing, I told him to call me when he gets home so we can video chat or at least get some pictures send to my phone.

I was referring to the time stamps in the phone screen shot posted here.

I wondered if you meant that screenshot but i looked at it and saw todays date, texts between two people at 4 something and then Mario taking a screenshot later after 5.

Not sure what error you were pointing out.
