When I started my company I hired my friend of 25 years. So the other night we are drinking with my group of friend .where we all have been friends since kindergarten . We are all joking around about how my employee doesn't wear a seat belt.

Today, drive by a cop in a new charger .My employee no seatbelt on . Get pulled over. After give him a warning .the cop asks , do you have any questions ?

Me : is that a Hemi ?

Friend now wearing a seat belt?

He wouldn't be allowed to ride with me, since generally the driver gets the ticket and associated points on the license.

Oh I check before I start driving now . In ct if the passenger is over 18 they get the ticket not the driver.

It sounds like you were still at that bar drinking as you typed this.

Just saying.

Were there any markings in the Charger? How about the "get the F outta the way" push bar on the front? I've seen a few Chargers, and what not where there is nothing. The only way to tell, are the antennas and the lights when they turn on.

Same rule here in Illinois. There is even a check box for passenger/driver next to no seat belt.

Slightly unrelated, but why would someone not wear a seatbelt?

He knows it's dangerous. What is the argument? Why take the risk? Don't like being told what to do?

Some people don't think the rules apply to them, not even the rules of physics. It's amazing, that's all. Just amazing.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Like those who walk into a cross walk because they know a driver of a 2,000lbs plus vehicle is suppose to stop for them. Despite the fact that that driver is going 30mph or more and is only 15ft or less away from that cross walk.

Thanks, KOT....
60 mph is 88 feet per second, so 30 mph is 44 feet per second.
The vehicle is 15 feet from the crosswalk, and 15/44 = .34 seconds.
Usain Bolt did the 100m in 9.58 seconds.
At that speed, in .34 seconds, he'd go 3.55 meters = 11 2/3 feet.
Poor Usain is therefore dead.

But your average Joe friend isn't worried.

Yes; I do not like others telling me what to do.

Besides, seatbelts only help if I'm in an a collision and I don't plan on being in a collision today -- thus, no need for seat belt.

Nobody plans on being in a collision. It's not about not liking to be told what to do, it's about surviving an unforseen car crash. I've seen un-belted people who were ejected and crushed to death by their own car or run over and killed by other cars after being in an otherwise survivable crash. I wonder what they were thinking as they flew out the door or window while their seatbelted passengers looked on in horror?

Come to New Hampshire- no motorcycle helmets or seatbelts, unless you are under 18. Only state left, for now since we are becoming northern mass.

I don't know about that; have you seen the way some/most people drive around here?
It's like they're asking for it.

I could probably make a fortune here by installing a dash cam (for evidence), getting a steel bumper, and go to town on those idiots.
Problem is, New Mexico is like a number one state for uninsured drivers. Alright, so we're number 4, still...
