Had an appt. with a Bright House contractor yesterday.
Remodeled building getting service and I wanted to have a site survey prior to installation, to make sure that there was nothing that my crew needed to do.

Contractor showed up (on time) and introduced himself (so far good), I took him to the equipment room and showed him our prewire and told him this is where I want the headend (still doing good). He goes outside, wanders around the parking lot and finally spots the CATV pedestal by the building to the east.

He tells me that they will need to do a parking lot bore (now I am a bit concerned).
I look down the side of our building and see coax coming out of the wall (?).
Hmm I think to myself....taking a walk around the building I find a newish tap with RG11 coming up from a pipe in the ground and 2 RG/6 cables going into the building.
Ran a signal test, because in his opinion that cable can not be connected.

Boom 325 down and 50 up.

Everything that we needed was right there and ready to go (and he had not even walked around the building).

An ounce of prevention.....

I call it the "aint got no gas" effect. 1 more minute of thinking can save you from hours of working.

Standard speech I give clients.

"All service providers suck, it is my experience that Directv sucks the least".

Cable for ISP, Directv for video.

Directv…Dish….Cable…AT&T (in order of least suck to most suck).

Switch places for the last two in a part of my work area that has a cable system that is a generation behind in terms of equipment and infrastructure.

Please AT&T, do not screw up Directv….
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.

On this site survey prior to install how did you test for those DL/UL speeds?
