I'd blame your disty for that. I just got an RMA today for an XBR850B I shipped in November that the customer "apparently" just turned on for the first time and it has a stripe down the screen.

Samsung doesn't take anything back. Ever.

that's interesting and good to know. Sony has to take their blame too however. After contacting them they were nothing short of terrible. Sent everything they'd ask for info wise, and they'd come back and say they need something else. Then they'd fail to respond and we had to keep calling, being placed on lengthy hold times Went on for months.

What was the last brand to try "catering to the CI market"? Oh yes....NuVision. We all know how well that worked out. Apparently they are still making TVs...4K ones even! Who has installed one? :P

NOW! You are just being stupid.
Let me rephrase that; you may not know it, but you are being stupid.
Either your Kuro is misadjusted (because you tried to do it yourself again, thinking you knew what you were doing). OR, you have a very poor comprehension of video quality.

Oh! The press! Yeah, they have a clue. [No offense to Julie or the other few journalist that actually know about what they write].

In video, we have test patterns we use to definitively setup a display to consistently produce the intended image (standards).
These same test patterns can also tell us how close a given display can perform to those standards.
Vizio sucks! Period!

Now I'll let Tom tell you how crappy they are to try and service :)

Yeah... I have an idea of how to use a pattern generator. I actually started my career at Zenith, working on TV's.

So, you've tested with a pattern generator on the Visio Reference series? I'll bet you have not... Just applying your testing of their consumer stuff to what they can do, is not applicable.

This isn't the first time Vizio has tried approaching the CI channel, I don't think.

No but if you can get aligned with a good/great Samsung repair center they will come out and fix pretty much anything (TV wise ) anyway the first time. I got hooked up with best Sansung service company in norcal and they come out and are prepaired to change any and all boards on the first service call, thanks D for having such a great crew- top notch>

Usually.

I have one stretched out to about four months with them now. Usually good.

Don't these TV lack discrete power and input commands? They should at least start with this if they are to be taken seriously

The only ones I have seen in the URC DB are from 2009. Do these work on current models?

I don't sell them so I only work on them from time to time when a client buys one. I can say that the ones I have worked on in the last few years all had discretes

Vizio has used a lot of LG codes for a very long time, since LG was, and may still be, one of their biggest suppliers.

In a timely announcement, one of my favorite local suppliers announces, "now proudly distributing Vizio".

I saw that also.
