Maybe they are trying to capture more of the cheapskate bar owner market.

Too bad it's such a POS brand. Have you seen any of the Reference series sets? [Link: vizio.com]The press seems pretty impressed. [Link: cnet.com]I had a chance to see the 65", and thought picture quality was excellent. I thought it was better than my 65" Kuro.

Too bad it's such a POS brand. As opposed to the POS samsungs? Or the POS Sony's?.... They all suck. At this point I'd rather get behind a manufacturer that gets behind us. Sony all but told me to go F myself when my clients 2 week old tv developed a black pixels ted bar along the bottom It took MONTHS to get them to admit the issue and replace.

I thought it was better than my 65" Kuro. NOW! You are just being stupid.Let me rephrase that; you may not know it, but you are being stupid. Either your Kuro is misadjusted (because you tried to do it yourself again, thinking you knew what you were doing). OR, you have a very poor comprehension of video quality. Oh! The press! Yeah, they have a clue. [No offense to Julie or the other few journalist that actually know about what they write]. In video, we have test patterns we use to definitively setup a display to consistently produce the intended image (standards). These same test patterns can also tell us how close a given display can perform to those standards. Vizio sucks! Period! Now I'll let Tom tell you how crappy they are to try and service :)

Vizio can make a TV with all of the wiring connections at 90 degrees to the chassis. I'll give them that.

I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV. My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird. |

Too bad it's such a POS brand. Are there any other brands that are really any better? LOL I did one recently because a client with multiple million dollar homes wanted to save $200 over the Samsung. In the end, it had discretes, and they loved the picture. Can't say I could see where it was horrible compared to other options now.

Mike noted in an earlier thread that getting them repaired once they are out of warranty could be problematical. His repair shop had three of the very same models in for repair. Opened them up, and they all had different boards inside. Get it replaced under warranty? Probably. Get it repaired after it's out of warranty? Don't bet on it.

I didn't realize that was still an issue. Are they still working off surplus parts from other companies?

What TV's get repaired out of warranty anyway? The repair is $650 and a new TV is $599.
I will take their webinar. My best hope for Vizio would be for them to push the other manufacturers to be better.

I'd blame your disty for that. I just got an RMA today for an XBR850B I shipped in November that the customer "apparently" just turned on for the first time and it has a stripe down the screen. Samsung doesn't take anything back. Ever.
