Has anyone used the new location free tv from Sony, LF-X1,? Does the remote location veiwing via network thing work and is it as trouble free as they claim? They claim you can take this thing with you out of town and if you have a high speed internet port you can watch anything at your house, ie. cable, sat, dvd, etc. I am going to be taking one out to a house on friday and was wondering if there is anything i need to lookout for. thanks

had a chance to play with this model the other day. The video looks good and the internet works well although the refresh rate is a bit slow. Should be easy to set up.

It can take IR signals on the wireless monitor's eye, and send them RF back to the base station where you can use it's "IR blaster" to feed a conecting block to your gear, although I did not use this feature.

The range is kind of weak but the base station was in a bad place. The signal went out between two walls.

All in all for 1500 bucks, you get a pretty cool gadget that will impress.

I wanted one after using it.

Bought it this past weekend. Set up was quick and easy, got Satellite setup and DVD set up easily. Wireless range is good; Can take it out on my back deck, and to extreme distance from base within house (5000 square feet) with good reception. Picture quality is great with S-Video and DVD. Picture quality is good with composite and satellite input. With other wireless devices in the house, phones, computer network, a A/V video sender hasn't worked in my house. Antenna reception is poor also (about 40 miles from NYC). This thing really works!(I expected it to work poorly and to return it to the store but it is a keeper). It is definately expensive but features are great. Even using the base to replace a wireless access point on 2nd floor. Tested it with a PC and it works perfectly.

Internet browsing and email work perfectly also. Kind of neat to browse and have TV running in PIP at the same time.

Haven't tested it remotely (away from home). At 5lbs with a 12" screen, I don't see myself taking it beyond my house and yard.

Only possible drawbacks are: A.) Price, B.) limited inputs on base(though really adequate) C.) Picture viewing and slide show very slow.

Would like to purchase a case that would protect it a bit as moving it around is a potential hazard.
