Do I have to use a Boost or Bridge when using a Playbar and a sub together? I plan on using 2- Connect:Amps (for two separate areas, not surround, 1- Playbar/ Sub (TV room), 1- Play 1 The Connects are going to be in the same cabinet and the Playbar will be just in front of them (within 5'-10'). I plan on running a Cat6 to the router and using it in one of the Connects. Will this work or do I have to hard wire the Playbar when using a Sub? I've never installed one of the subs before that's why I'm asking. The Sonos site leads me to believe I have to use a Boost or Bridge but can't really understand there info. If I do need a Boost OR Bridge which one is potentially better and why? I'd love to know why what the particular differences are.

If I recall correctly, you do not need any wired connection to the router to make this setup function as long as you're not trying to deploy surrounds with the Playbar/Sub. All units can be setup to communicate via WiFi, though an initial temporary connection is required for the first device in the system.
Of course wired is always best, but if you can only wire one device in the system, make it the Playbar, which can be configured as a bridge/boost and has better RF propagation than Connects do. This way you'll have the option of using SONOSNet instead of WiFi.
If wiring the Playbar isn't feasible, I'd play it safe and add a wired Boost and be done with it. The Boost is the new version of the Bridge and has better RF output.

Yes... you need a bridge.

Boost is definitely a better, stronger signal.

As long as one SONOS component has a wired network connection, you do not need a Bridge or Boost in the system to establish a SONOSnet. I have been advised that the Playbar provides better RF strength than other SONOS components, so that'd be the preferable wired client if you want to use SONOS net for mesh networking to all devices vs the new(er) WiFi-based setup (with no wired connection).

You do not need a bridge or a boost. The boost is better. We sell a bridge on every job whether they need it or not...

We do as well, but we will refund the cost at time of invoice if it proves unnecessary. Typically only when we can get ethernet to a Connect of Connect:Amp, which are just as unlikely as a Bridge/Boost to be relocated.

Currently, you need something hardwired if you're using a sub. Current beta eliminates that need.
