hey guys i know i am the new guy on the block, but i need some help. i have a customer that has a 30" SVA brand lcd panel that she wants me to hang from the ceiling of her house boat. the only problem is she wants it over the helm and to be able to fold it up against the ceiling when she is in motion. i have not had any luck finding a fold up mount that will hold a panel of that size, and to make it even worse the panel is not vesa compatible, but i planned on using a universal back plate but cant find everything else i need. any advice or help would be great.

I believe Chief makes a fold up ceiling mount for plasmas. Obviously if it can hold a plasma a LCD will not be an issue. But check out the major players, as either Inca or Chief have what you are looking for.

thanks for the info alan. i called chief and they dont have anything. she got this idea from a show on the travel channel, they were showing motorhomes with retractable tvs above the steering wheel. so, if anybody knows what company makes thoses or has an idea on who i can contact to find out, that would be great. again thanks in advance to anyone who can help

OK, so it was Inca. I did say to try either one. This is what you are looking for, although you will want to check that there is an adaptor for you model LCD.

be careful with any mount you get, since those SVA sets weigh twice as much as any flat screen I have come across- it might cause the cabin's roof to cave in!
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

Is there any problem with laying a plasma or LCD horizontal, especially when in motion? I have a project I'm working on that this would make a whole lot easier, and more trick, but I'm not sure of the stability of laying a plasma horizontal.

Have no personal experience with Inca lifts, but search this forum. There have been some very negative references in the past.

You can try Auton for plasma flip down lifts.

These things take up a lot of room, so I hope the house boat has a lot of overhead space.

Haven't used the flip down unit, but their lifts for in cabinet are good.
Good Luck!

ps - don't you just love it when your customer sees "something cool on some show on maybe HGTV or maybe somewhere else?"

I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.
