Can you feed uverse boxes both with coax and cat5 at the same time? This house is a royal pita to run wires in and would be helpful if I can do both.

I should clarify. I meant feed from the uverse demarcation with both coax and cat5 to different boxes at the same time. I realize I made it sound like I wanted to feed the same box with both cat6 and coa .

Isnt Coax on Uverse just Moca? If it isnt, theres no reason why you couldnt use Moca in conjunction with Cat5 as its all network in the end.

Just use CAT. Unless there is no CAT available, then use the Coax.

It does not mean that you can omit to run the coax to the TV locations entirely.

Use a dedicate switch for U-verse set top boxes if you have more boxes than their gateway can accommodate. And use another switch for other Ethernet connections.

This is essentially two houses in one. 6000+ square feet, stretched mainly across one floor with a couple rooms upstairs. Hard concrete/plaster on metal lathe. Two separate attics, 2 separate basements. Half of the house was run with some old rg6. Other half was able to get cat5 in, except they ONLY ran cat5, no coax. Really need to utilize both if possible. Running wires will be VERY difficult at this stage.

if you cant do both just use all cat5 and then install your own moca adapters

ive had to use both cat5 and coax with uverse before. it works fine. the nice thing about doing that is if you have a box hooked up with a coax to the uverse network and have no cat5 at that location, you can use the cat5 jack on back of the cable box. that saved my butt one day when the wifi card in the apple tv went out and we just went out of the cable box into the apple tv and was able to fix it.

Ok. Let me try and explain this a 3rd time. There are sections of this hkuse that have coax, and will ONLY have coax due to the limitations with the layout hampering our ability to run new wires. There will be NO all cat5 on this job.
