I need to get ethernet to a gate that is approx 3/4 mile from the house. At the gate is power and thats about it. We will have conduit out to the gate from the house. Customer is looking for an IP camera at the gate. I think the best way is fiber. Has anyone gone this far with any success? What product did you use?

TIA

Ubiquity- look at their site for long-range WiFi.

Ubiquity Nanobeam will work great at that range.

Single mode fiber and two switches with SFP ports. We have a farm that has roughly 12 miles of fiber and 15 endpoints with no problem at all.

It is a winding tree lined road from the house to the gate. Does the Nanobeam need line of sight?

What switches do you recommend? I only need one connection at the gate.

Works much better line of site. Can always go above the trees. Of course, Fibre is a better bet if tres are dense

Trees are pretty dense. Im thinking more about fiber. We do have a conduit. looking for something that works reliably

+1 cisco switches are what I use! Im currently using this for a pool house 400 ft away from the rack.

These are really popular for us when dealers want to a small switch with SFP

Use this in the gate area

10 Port SW

MM SFP Adapter

Then depending on the main switch you have just put an SFP adapter in it or use an ethernet to fiber adapter and another sfp plug

Just get a pair of fiber to Ethernet converters. The pair cost is usually pretty cheap, especially if you only need the one connection. If you ever need to add more out there, throw in the switches mentioned above.

Signamax makes some good ones.

How can you beat less than $90 for a pair?

These are pretty nice little problem solvers, apparently much like the Planet switches.
