So, I took down the old Fujitsu 42" I got from a client last year. The pic was getting bad. I'm looking at the Sammy 46" 7150? Any other options out there.
This is our go to TV when at home while cooking, eating, etc.
I was also looking at the 50" Sammy Plasma for a second room or my Garage, It's only $450.00. Wondering what a $450.00 plasma pic looks like.
Anyone like LG? They seem entry level to me but haven't really looked at them.
4k? How soon until 4k content actually starts? Don't want to overbuy to soon and feel like I got hosed in the wallet.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I'm a big fan of the 7150 series if you can still get a hold of them, I know it is a 2014 model. If, somehow, a 48" would fit the Sony KDL-48W600B is nice as well.

The cheap Samsung Plasmas really aren't that bad either, but at 50" you have a lot of other good options for not a whole lot more such as the Sony 50W800B.

It appears a lot of manufacturers released really crappy TV's that are 4k this year. Low refresh rate, poor contrast, etc. That is the only thing that would push me away. If you are getting a TV sized for a specific opening I would probably go 4K if you can get a good fit, that way you won't have to deal with finding that exact size again soon. Otherwise it is hard to decide. Luckily prices came down big time this year and fewer "flagship" 1080 TV's are around, so it is getting easier and easier to decide.

Recently picked up an LG 50PN5300 for under $400.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

Have done a few of the Sony XBR 850c series tv's. They look like total crap. Have had a couple customers comment on the shitty picture now. The B series were stunning. Total disappointment.

The xbr's look very good when you set them up properly. Of course the quality of the signal comes into play as well.
Samsung just look like garbage imho

Sony 49" x950 for sure. Better than anything else other than the newest LG oled. Not to mention it is pretty cheap

I push sony now just for IP integration...They dont look that great though...

Of course the last 50" 750b TV i did required me to make two trips back and a special order from fastenal to get the blasted thing mounted...I never cursed engineers so much in my life (and i curse them alot, including my dad) lol

I agree that all the new LEDs that are being sold now are not as good as the plasmas sold a few years ago.

I was buying up 60" LG plasmas for myself and family members because the price on them were so good. But now they are all gone and I wish that I had bought more.
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

Well, it sounds like there is nothing new out there that really stands out. I hear Sony, if set up right. LG is decent, a possible option. Find an old Kuro, that isn't going to happen most likely. A side note, I do have a 50" Kuro in my MBR, so I do know how nice they look.
My main issue for Family room is size. The 46" is a perfect size, though a slightly larger can possibly work.
I can't believe with all the current technology I can't find a great display........

Agreed on finding a used Kuro. IMHO, still the best TV ever made. The jury is still out on the new OLEDs due to possible motion issues.
