Hey Guys, i am in Brazil right now installing a crestron system, and the customer has an old Vantage Q series system here. The RS-232 interface was never added on Qlink, nobody knows who installed it years ago and the nearest vantage dealer is 500 miles away. Anyone could spare me a copy of Qlink??? emergency!!! i'm sure i can figure out myself how to add the interface. thanks!

Fly me to Brazil, I will interface it for free.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I have a friend who has a Vantage MC and can't get local support. The house/system was struck by lightning, everything seems to power on and function correctly except the tech who came to the house claims the programming was lost.

After some research it seems QLink software is nowhere to be found anymore. Does anyone here have access to an older version that has since disappeared? It seems a shame that our only local option is quoted at an $8000 upgrade.

Does the house have an IP Enabler connected to the RS-232 port?

BTW, if the programming was wiped out , nothing would function.

The programming sits in the processor chassis and in a backup Flash on the board.
Someone plug a new processor in and just expect it to work?

As far as I know no hardware was changed. There was a storm and everything stopped working like normal. A tech came out and at least got the lights working in the room that houses the controller. The same tech said the programming was gone. There is nothing connected to the rs232 port.

A couple of thoughts on this:
1. You can look on the internet for another Qlink Processor and get a IP enabler so that anyone will be able to remotely program and back up the system.
The Qlink Processor is way beyond end-of-life and cannot be repaired by Vantage.
The Power supply is the weak link, so you can scrap one out of another processor to keep things going.
2. You can purchase an Infusion Processor and backplane board that fits your cabinet and join the network. Now things are easily diagnosed and setup locally or remotely.
The Infusion processor is a native ethernet device.
It also has an SD card for backup that can be copied and kept in a safe place.
The processor will work the old modules, but not all of the old LCD touchscreens.

There may be more damage to the system from the storm than just the Processor. You may also have module (s) that are damaged and wiring.

I am a Vantage Dealer. You can PM me if you want to share more details not in the public eye.

I wish I had it to give you. "Necro" the thread -- hilarious and so so much better than just jumping into an antique conversation as thought it happened yesterday -- deserves kudos. So... KUDOS!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
