A family member (by marriage) just bought one of their subwoofers from Amazon. Is this some secret boutique line I've never heard of or white van crap?

I know, I know. Listening to speakers via a camera mic isn't the best. But that's mostly for bass audio. This video gives you the sense of the tweeters being VERY loud.

I posted the link with the time frame a few seconds before the guy starts the music.

Apparently they use horn tweeters. But he bought a subwoofer. I'm trying to figure out if I need to try to get this stuff sent back.

He also bought a Yamaha center channel. Someone shoot me.

But what have they done lately? Just because RCA used to be a major television brand doesn't mean I want one now

As others have said, they are junk. However they are cheap, so one might say they are a good value at their price point. I just wouldn't want to be at that price point.

People who don't value a category of product, will never see the reason as to why they would spent more than the cheapest they can find.
Even thou it should be common sense that the cheapest of any product category is going to be junk by default.
Common sense just isn't to common these days is all.

From your past posts about family members, I would say just let it go. You are just spinning your wheels, because they don't seem to value your opinion at all and don't seem to really care to much about what they are getting anyway.

Actually.....

I sold BIC America stuff for several years (Mid 80 to mid 90's), and the speakers were highly rated by AudioReview, as well as others.

Still the same? Who knows.

I would guess that they are no worse than a lot of the multitude of speakers we see these days. Some of which are just extremely overpriced, trying to create a sense of value.

I looked at the Home page and all I see is Klipsch/Infinity/Cerwin Vega clones
at a low low price.

Definitely looking to feed the lower end of the market.

That sub should pair beautifully with these and a Yamaha center speaker

I seriously doubt this is the same BIC of the '70s. Now that I read the "About Us" part, I guess I do remember hearing that the founder had passed a long time ago. They also resurrected the RtR name- they had speakers with a 24" woofer, must have stood 6' tall.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I have a BIC America center channel. LOL. It was probably $80 or so, with dual 6.5" woofers, a tweeter, and a huge cabinet.

There's a guy who will hot rod the crossover and the end product gets rave reviews. FWIW.

BIC has always appealed to the bottom fishers. And, that's where it belongs. The speakers were honking thud boxes, but there is a market for that sound. I encounter too many listeners who always have the Tone controls set at max. Anything less and they feel that they are not getting their money's worth.

Obviously, it's not the market that I target.

I let my relatives enjoy their purchase -- at whatever level they chose.
