Ok, can I get a sim card that I can use my Iphone 6 in europe? (verizon) (Germany-Switzerland-Austria and France) Im reading conflicting things.

If not can I get a "burner" ? would like to be able to call someone if I get in trouble or lost... BMW offers a "number" that you can call for ED customers that can help direct you or if you get in a pickle with the authorities they will talk on your behalf.

You have ED? No wonder you have no gal pal... LOL

Only way you can get a SIM card for your phone is if it's unlocked GSM.

You definitely can use a European SIM card in a Verizon iPhone 6. I do it all the time and there are no problems at all. Pop it in and off you go.
I use a prepaid GiffGaff card in the UK. This article looks current and helpful on options on carriers in your destinations: [Link: kenstechtips.com]
Have fun.

Why not just purchase an international calling card? They are cheap as heck.

Call your provider, I think that you will find that they have a plan that will allow you to purchase an amount of "overseas" usage. That way you don't have to worry about swapping sim cards back and forth.

Now, this advice comes from traveling in Saudi Arabia, so things could be more relaxed in Europe, but... there may be some kind of government registration you have to do to get a cell phone activated over there.

Going to the paranoid side of the idea, which is actually practical and not at all paranoid, the Saudi government realized at one point that people were buying prepaid phones and refilling them with minutes, going in and out of the country without the government having any idea who they were. They instituted a plan that requires a specific registration number for every person with resident status, and a plan for companies whose cell needs vary, and that number has to be entered every time you add minutes to the phone.

I'm not saying there's anything so restrictive where you're going. I'm saying I did not ever imagine there was such a thing, but you should check before you spend any time or money on it.

FWIW, it costs me MUCH less to call the US on my Saudi phone than to call the US on my US phone!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Europe is easy, grab a SIM card at the airport upon arrival and swap it. Note, remember to bring a small paper clip to pop your old SIM out and for changing it back upon departure home!

Safe travels and enjoy the time away.

That is a really expensive option on Verizon

3Pedal, I just called all my clients with projects or with possible projects and told them that I was going to be on vacation and unreachable. I would have email access every few days. So my VM told them to email me and I would get back to them via email in a few days. Didn't have an issue.

Hilarious. If TSA ever gets their stuff together, they will have you in shackles for carrying a paper clip.

I got a Samsung phone overseas (an old model that doesn't even flip). More correctly, the client supplied it, and it turns out the SIM cards are completely different in size.

I went to Europe for a month and didn't bother telling clients that I would be gone.

None of their business how I'm spending their money.... ;-)
