With 20 years around CE, in one capacity or another, I had a couple firsts this week....

1. Six years into my business I have gotten many phone calls. This one was for networking, specifically getting off the Wi-Fi. Too much traffic, poor signal? Nope. She's worried about the long term health effects, cancer etc.... (oh, and the kids are home schooled...got it.)

2. I was working on a few rooms for a guy over the last week or two. I was out grabbing wire from the van and 5.0 rolls up! The officer said they had reports of a strange van on the corner. He said he expected an unmarked/unwrapped van. It is funny as an owner/operator to BS with the cop and say "well, there's my name, number and Chamber of Commerce sticker" (for the city we were standing in). He grabbed my info and moved on. The cop was probably looking for someone from earlier...

I told the customer my story and she said they had actually had some break-ins lately in the neighborhood. She said people turn onto her street and just stop and wait for appointments, casing the houses, who knows! I'd be pissed too if people just sat in my cul-de-sac.

Fun stuff!

You should tell her the signals from local radio stations are way stronger than any WiFi and the only way is to put a Faraday cage around the house.....

This has been going on for a few years now. Clients asking for ways to turn wi-fi off, remove it completely or cleanse it.

Cleanse it you ask?

There are companies now that are making these ridiculous boxes that you plug in to an outlet then plug your device in to it. This somehow realigns the medichlorians. Its technical...you wouldnt understand.

Twice i had cops roll up while waiting outside a home. Once when my boss was having a sales meeting inside and once when i was waiting for the client to arrive.

I have had cops come after me a few times when i accidentally tripped the alarm while installing the new phone system :D.

You didn't offer some tin foil?

Years ago, i was doing a training/demo of a commercial alarm. called central station and let them know I would be testing for the next two hours.

Apparently the word wasn't shared.

Five cop cars show up, sirens blaring.

I just calmly explained to the fifty plus employees:

"Now you know what happens if you open THAT door".

I had the coast guard float up in an inflatable with a 50 cal with weapons hot working at a Marina one day. My back was facing the water, I turned around looked up and there they were...We were doing some homeland security work at the fuel docks. Coast guard didn't get the memo.

I think I had to change my undies that day. Lmfao.

As a side note I think the port athority director was messing with me and put the coast guard up to it.

Search Google news for 'wifi danger health' and you'll see plenty of concerned people.

It is a real problem. The smart meters mess with people as well.

Some years ago, my street was a dead end with only 40 houses on it, and everyone knew everyone... and strangers stood out like a sore thumb.

One day, there was a car parked across the street from us. And it was there for quite a while... hours on end, with two men sitting in it. We called the police to report a suspicious vehicle. Then, later that day, the doorbell rings.

It's the two men from the car. It turns out they were undercover cops from another jurisdiction, staking out a business that could be seen from where they were parked. But the problem was... they kept having the local police called on them, and could we all please stop!

That movie was alright, but that scene wails! "~Of course I'm still smoking and drinking , I'm not psychotic!" Classic....

Just had my own networking call, a new homeowner's kid couldn't get hardwired Internet to work for his Xbox anywhere. Turned out this gorgeous custom home was rush sold by the GC and they just screwed all the network and phone plates to the boxes without terminating a single wire. Fun call.

I've had people worry about that. But, they'll never give up their cellphone.

We need some really good science to get to the bottom of this. A few hundred sets of identical twins need to be separated at birth and kept in isolation. Twins 'A' have a constantly transmitting cellphone strapped to their heads and both sets are kept in separate shielded rooms. Other than the cellphone for Twins 'A', no other electronics is allowed. Of course, all other factors (diet, exercise, etc.) must be kept identical. After 30 years or so of isolation the health of Twins 'A' and Twins 'B' are compared (to each other, not the general population).

Any volunteers?

Been there. One too many times as well.

Nothing like getting a call from the GC asking if you can run the network, telephone, AND cable in a 5000SF house that is going to close "next week"...

Yeah, it was VERY expensive.

Twin A ends up normal. Twin B ends up a psychotic fruitcake from all the isolation.
