I'm using QB Premier for Contractor Edition 2004. So far so good..However, I'm wondering if anyone is using any type of third party plug-in for generating Daily Work Order, Installer Daily Progress Report and other such helpful PM tools?

That is a good question as i just purchased QB Pro. Let me know if you get any info.

I was wondering if there is a way to show the retail price and if you want ot see the wholesale price then you have to put in some type of PW or something as i sit at the comp with clients at the computer while i write prosopals ect, and it shows both the retail and wholesale prices.

I use Prosite. www.probusinesstools.com it is a web based subscription oriented program. They set you up with a website, they have a few generic web templates. I really like it. It works great for me. The techs like it because they pull their work from home and can checkout detailed info about customer. It has alot of nice qualities about it.

The monthly premium depends on how many technicians you have. My monthy payment is approx. $150.00-$200.00 per month. But I think it is worth it.

As far as the website goes, I guess you can lay it out anyway that you see fit, I never really got into all of that because I strictly use it for my tech's benefit.

Does anyone know what is the Proper way in QB PRO 04 to create an INVOICE from an ESTIMATE and track the balances that the customers owes from the orginal ESTIMATE? I keep trying to do this, but it never caculates the balance that the client owes and prints it accordingly.

Lonny,

You will have to create a custom Estimate View based on a pre-made Quickbooks Estimate. In your new View you can select not to view the cost.

I've done it and it works great.

It's simple...Print a Statement and it will automatically calculate your customer balance

Ya, i can do that, however, it would be nice that when you print an INVOCIE during a billing cycle it shows and caculates the CURRENT BALLANCE on the line item. Now there is a box to check in the setup that says "CUSTOMER BALLANCE" and similar info that you would think would mean just that, but it does not.

Although we are not a contractor, we have been using QB Pro for the past 5 years and there is an easy way to produce an invoice reflecting the customers net balance due. With your invoice showing on the screen select the "customize tab". Then choose Edit and Footer and check both the "Total" and "Balance Due" options. You may then have to use the layout designer to adjust your positioning (drag and drop), but it will now reflect (when printing) both the total of the original job and the net amount due from the customer. If the invoice you are using does not have these options available, simply select another format from the default templates QB's has on board. Hope this helps you all.

We use QB Pro in our office also and when they first switched to it from wriiten invoices years ago, quickbooks had a help service that they used to get started. You could talk to them on an hourly basis about any questions on setup or operation. Then it was around 30-40 dollars an hour but now I would guess it is closer to a hundred give or take. And some might cringe at that but their techs know the software front to back and I would say most of us dealers charge at least that much an hour. As for the original question, D-tools is probably the perfect software for what you are looking for but it costs a lot.

you should also look at simply reliable their software can cost less than d-tools for similar functions.
