Went to the Training last night and here is what was discussed.

Proper way to install SONOS according to the training was to Hardwire each amp connect in rack to an unmanaged switch. If another Sonos Products is on site like in a living room, do not wire it behind another switch. Let the mesh network handle it.

If there are any other products in rack that are using wifi, hardwire all Amp connects. If no other components in rack use wifi, hardwire one amp connect and the others can be wireless.

Never loop amp connects together with Ethernet cable

The boost is a solid product

They have added 2 services that handle 16bit-44Khz
Deezer Elite and Tidal. Tidal was started by (JayZ and other artists)
Deezer Elite is available for free as a demo for Dealers.

Mood Mix is a service offered for commercial installs. If the customer pays for mood mix, no ascap issues.

Recommended network sniffer- inSSIDer
Use this software and take a picture and file it when job is complete. Go back out to site on a service call, pull out sniffer and see what has changed.

Here are 2 things that I learned that I wanted to share.

1)When on the local network with the sonos devices, pull up a browser and type in
[Link: ipofplayer]
EDIT: photo IMG_3825.png
This will give you a Diagnostic that can determine the wireless signal strength between players and the interference that players receive.

2) to be a gold dealer, in the past you had to sell more households than you did total product to get recognized as gold dealer. Now if you sell 3 zones in a house, CI's will get credit like multiple households.

I use InSSIDer (selecting the best channel for SonosNet) and review the network Matrix on every job. Well worth the extra minute or two to minimize the chance of issues. It helps to maximize profit on Sonos jobs.

I have both inSSIDer ($10) and WiFi analyzer (free). I prefer the latter.

NEZBO,
You've been listening to network news, right?

Lots of times recently I've heard the idiots who read the news say things like "a man was killed after his car ran into a wall at 200 mph." "Man blinded after arrow hits him in the eye" and such. You learned some things about SONOS after training.

Did you learn these things AFTER the training, or DURING or AT the training? Was it like the first guy above, who must have run into a wall at 200 mph, survived that just fine, then from some unknown force at some time AFTER that, he died?

Back to the discussion now... and after dinner I'm going to actually read the thread.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Do you mean WiFi Analyzer the Android app, or is there another one?

Thanks for sharing NEZBO - good stuff. When hardwired in the rack do manually shut Wi-Fi off on the Connect?

@ Keith I am pretty sure he means the Android App. I like inSSIDer too.

Since no two connected events can happen simultaneously, using 'after' is actually correct. The total of the information couldn't have been learned at the beginning, middle or only at the end, so it all would have come together afterward.

The man may die during the 200MPH crash, but in order for the rear of the car to pass the impact point without resistance, ~.3 seconds must pass. It's entirely possible to live past the crash event. Same for the arrow.

Some things just take time.

Yes. You should hardwire every device you can and turn off WiFi on those devices by typing in a browser:

httpCOLON//IPADDRESS:1400/wifictrl?wifi=persist-off
I'm not sure training was interpreted correctly, or that I interpreted it correctly. I have systems where Connect AMPS are working off multiple switches. When we had problems it was because some devices had WiFi left on and they were meshing even though they were hardwired.

Also, did they mention MAC address reservation?

Just throwing this out there. Do you often find that those in your personal life tend to be heavy drinkers?

I think they usually have chunks of drywall embedded in their foreheads.

And yet he listed very individual facts that were learned DURING the training. He did not describe some confabulation of concepts assembled after the training.

The man may die during the 200MPH crash, but in order for the rear of the car to pass the impact point without resistance, ~.3 seconds must pass. It's entirely possible to live past the crash event. Same for the arrow.

Some things just take time.

But the news announcer is not acting as a physicist, being careful to point out that things are sequential. He's speaking generally to a general audience and he is mischaracterizing what he means by using the word AFTER.
