We've done a few, no issues, all connected with shielded Cat 5.

Curious to know if you all are using shielded or standard with the success you've had.

But what can you do with Brent after you get him?

Kick him in the nuts and steal his wallet? ;-)

So..... You have met my wife?

I've made my feelings about Brent no secret. He sets the bar for other companies tech support to strive for. And, consider what all ethereal did to solve the problem with the new HDMI chips before most manufacturers even knew they had problems. I'm all for supporting a company that supports us

All of this and still no flowers?

The ONLY issue I have ever seen is when you are running IR through the extender from a control system to the display, I have seen the emitters lock up where they won't stop glowing. Unplug the RX end and it goes back to normal.

Besides that they seem to be rock solid. Oldest installs are about 1.5 years old.

This somewhat describes the issue I'm having. Control4 managed system. Control4 I/O Extender, Binary 8X8 Matrix to Binary Balun over Cat6. At seemingly random times IR emitters lock up with a bright glow. Occasionally they return to normal before locking up again. This occurs with the system active or in standby.

Feel free to redirect me to the appropriate discussion.

I'm using some old SCP unshielded Cat5e with zero issues. Had several boxes of it, so I figured why not. I could always use it to pull something better if need be.

We use them all the time and very few problems. There is a dipswitch that needs to be changed on some occassions (I can't remember which one and why), but that's the biggest fuss I've come across. Tech support was able to help us with that pretty easily.

Unshielded here without problems.
