Does anyone have remote codes for direct access to Mitsubishi TV inputs? It's too bad Mitsubishi doesn't understand the need for direct access.

If anyone needs the direct input codes for Sony TV, I have them and would be happy to share.

How about Toshiba, Panasonic, or RCA? Any one know any way to directly access inputs with a single infrared command?

In fairness to Mitsubishi, they are one of the best companies to support custom installers with discrete codes. They have supplied them for many years. However, you must be a little new to custom installation. Here are some hints:

There are discrete codes posted in the Pronto files section of this website that work on many Mitsubishi sets.

Here are some workarounds for others:

Old Mits TV’s:
Go to User Setup Menus and enable Mitsubishi Active AV Network. This enables VCR “A” Play command to act as ON and EXT 1 command

New Mits TV’s:
Press and hold the power command and enter 090. Now, power=on, stop=off, two step macros for all inputs:input, PIP=DTV;input, 1=EXT1; likewise inputs 2,3,4; input, 5=DVD component 1; input, 6=component 2; input, SQV=Input STB; input, QV=Input VGA; input, PIP CH UP = Ant A; input, PIP CH DN =ANT B

Eric-
Thanks for your help. I have been hearing about these codes for almost 15 years, but have never found anyone who would reveal them. I am not a Mitsubishi dealer, as I sell mostly Sony televisions. I stopped selling Mitsubishi when they discontinued their full line of televisions a few years ago. The old direct-view Mitsubishi's were great TVs before their involvement with Sharp. Their projection televisions are still good. I agree that Mitsubishi has done many things to help installers, such as the drawings of their sets to aid in cabinet design. When I called Mitsubishi, I couldn't get anyone to talk to me about remote codes. Even the Mitsubishi repair specialists in this area were unaware of the codes. Even though I have been in this business since 1966, there are some things I don't know. It is good that some installers are willing to share information, as you have. I too, am always anxious to share the knowledge I've accumulated from my many years of experience and engineering background. Remote Central is a great medium for all of us to help each other.

Thanks again.

Eric,
Great feedback for Keith on that, however--I have not found a working discreet code for the ANT-DTV input on the new Net Command equipment Mitsubishi TV's. I've tried all the discrete codes I can find, but none that will activate ANT-DTV. (I also may have a problem I haven't checked yet with the D-VHS attached to the IEE1394 Port).
I have had to resort to macroing the keypresses through menu to solve this.

Any other thoughts?

Orwave,

I haven't played with one of these TV's yet. Give me a model # and I will go take a look. I have several Mitsubishi dealers near me and I will email some freinds with good connections with Mits.

Eric,
maybe this is a new thread, but are there discrete power commands for older Mitsubishi TVs? I have two clients with TVs that are a few years old for which none of those commands in the FILES section work. If I remember right, one or two of the files I found have ON and OFF, but they toggle on these TVs. One of the TVs is a 32" and one is about a 50".

Sorry, but it has been almost a year since I did the Prontos for these guys and I do not have the model numbers available. It would simplify these clients' Prontos enough that I would go out there and improve their Prontos for free if I had those codes.

Thanks --
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

On the old 32", I don't think you'll have any luck. But the 50" might respond to the discrete codes. I once owned a ten year old 45" and POSTED the codes here at remote central for it (the Rear Projection TV codes in Mitsubishi Discrete codes). Try those Pronto codes again on the 50".

Here are some workarounds for other old sets which are worth trying :

Old Mits TV’s:
Go to User Setup Menus and enable Mitsubishi Active AV Network. This enables VCR “A” Play command to act as a simultaneous ON and EXT 1 command. You can use that as an "anchor" in a macro and then toggle/scroll to any input in a reliable macro. Make a discrete OFF command by issuing the VCR A Play then issuing the toggle power command in a two step macro.

Thanks, Eric. I normally sneer at the Active AV settings, but you have opened my eyes. In fact, I think that 32" might have had Active AV and I am now intrigued....

Ernie,

You must have read the original Mitsubishi manual, it made me sneer too. They just assume that you would seriously put in an ALL MITSUBISHI SYSTEM. Just think, along side your $12,000 HDTV set, a $99 Mits CD, a $149 Mits Surround sound receiver etc.

But without any of the active AV network wires or other Mits components, it actually changes the way those old sets respond to IR codes and is quite useful in a pinch.

Good Luck on the job!

-Eric

there is one... I found it, but I'll be damned if I remember what it is...

I use a Cinema 7 to teach HTM MX 500's and 700's how to make the Mitsu jump through hoops, and anything that you can find on those TV's has a discrete code- and they're ALL the same, from the smallest 25" through the largest 16X9 HD monitors....

I'll do research, and post findings later...
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

The WS models can be programmed with the 090 codes Eric mentioned above, but it doesn't work with the other Mits models. Try the Home Theater Spot Mitsubishi forum for the definitive Mits info.
