What cameras / server do you guys use? How about reliability? I have two jobs for the same guy who wants us to put 8 cameras in two of his homes so he can monitor usage of the houses from his third home. All 8 will be bw infared with 2 needing audio. I've played with the greyfox cameras here @ the office and the seem to pretty much do the job but they don't do audio. Thanks in advance for the advice

silent witness nighthawk...then run them through an webserver
they have audio/video/and IR Floods for zero light
About $600.00 per camera, then greatly varying for web capable DVR/Matrixer...

don't know if this is overkill, but [Link: genetec.com] it is not the camera, and can work with any of them, but it archives and can send alarms using the setup. Not sure of cost, but we use in our plants and offices

I've used Axis IP video servers in the past with good results. They also make IP camras. http://www.axis.com/Bob

Coincidentally, a interesting article at Newsforge was just posted regarding an IP camera application. Sounds pretty affordable and applicable but YMMV regarding the support of such a deployment.
I delve into all kinds of computer-based solutions for my own needs but rarely consider them when dealing with customers' needs, even when the application (such as the Asterisk VoIP platform) is available in a commercial form.

I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

Does your client have High speed internet access to all of his homes?
Do any of the cameras have to go outdoors?

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other. |
