I do agree you spend more money on the AXS approach,
but so far, we haven't met with any objections
with the client. Lucky I guess.

If they're linin' up at the trough, keep usin' the same feed.

Yeah you will need to have service tracks on the
truck, but it is a lot more managable to do any
service work, and a whole lot safer.

JJP

Just an idea - we spec a set of tracks as part of the project and leave them on the job site. It has worked out well for us.

Thanks for the tip QQQ.

We have done some jobs where the service tracks were included. Though we still roll a truck with tracks in it, just in case someone happens to wonder what they're for and decides to rid themselves of what they deem "unneccessary realestate".

JJP

By the way, here is a pic of a recent installation.

Very nice. Did you take the IR emitters off for the picture or are you modifying the components and putting them on the inside. Tell the truth now!

Thanks for the compliment, QQQ.

Actually (ssshhhhhh!), all emitters were installed inside the pieces of equipment.

Though I don't recommend it for the faint-at-heart as some devices require you to, shall we say, be creative and re-engineer the placement of the IR eye to facilitate IR flasher attachment, it is a much nicer looking install.

And equipment control and automation also becomes more reliable as you don't have to worry about the IR emitters falling off from the heat. A bad thing when you consider the install is 135 miles away.

Indeed, an install to be proud of. I like the doubled up (Blum?) hinges.

John, I've often considered mounting the emitters on the back of the cabinet doors, where they's be in front of the individual eyes. Comments?

Sounds like it'd work fine; Doors open/Doors closed.

But maybe some knothead wouldn't like them stuck on the inside of his cabinetry when he's "amazing and mystifying" guests with an open-door look at the "hi-teck" system.

High Tech with an old analog cable box? Must not get his locals via satellite. But....gotta love the Carvin amp up at the top. Bass Shakers anyone?

Actually, the client DOES get locals via satellite, but wanted to keep the cable box for premium services (Seems they've had the box "fixed" to do this. Can you say PORN channels? LOL)

Actually, locals are received 3 ways within the system. First through the cable box, second through the UltimateTV receiver via Directv, and third through the DTC-100 for off-air DTV reception.

Bass Shakers anyone?

Part of the "Buttkicker" package. You hit it right on the head.

They think that is the best part of the system, and routinely show it off to friends and family.

Thanks for the compliment Sheik. The hinges are indeed Blum hinges. No self-respecting cabinet maker would be caught with any other type.

Sounds like a great idea Larry. Have you any thoughts on how you would address the wire from the rack of equipment to the emitters? I would think you'd be using "blaster" type emitters, to give you a little more reliability?

Unless he was caught in a darkened basement, punishing them over an anvil with a 4lb. Eastwing sledge.

I hate to be picky (no, I don't!), it's Estwing, not Eastwing. That's a part of the hospital.
