Customer has 3 Apple Airports & wanted them connected. I set up each one as its "own network" with same ssid & password for all of them. Each one is setup via bridge mode and the Time Warner Cable Modem/Router is handing out all the IPs.

Router->Araknis 24port Switch->Airports....all Cat6

I set up all my installed equipment from 192.168.0.80-.99 & that includes the Airports. Wireless is off on the TWC router & everything hooks up fine and works but my Mbps is a horrific 1.56 download & they pay for 30+. I disconnected the airports & just used the wifi on the router & got the full 30mbps.

Am I missing something here on my installation other than its the s****y Airports?

Ughhhh shoot me now.
Knowing that Gold went up a few K makes me think "well now I have to do a better job on selling more equipment".

Throw the modem in bridge mode, use on Airport as the main router and configure the other two to extend the main airport. Done.

Setup the first one as the "Main" one. Then one by one as you do the next two, they should automatically setup to "EXTEND" the first network.

Are you using a Mac to set these up or a PC? Airport Utility sure does work a lot better on a Mac.

Also, Turn off airplay if you are not using them for it. It does help with speed

Snap had a batch of bad switches a while ago that were dropping networks down to a crawl (1-2mbps).  If you reboot the switch it would go away for a while but eventually come back.  I'd try bypassing or replacing it first.

Second, never use an ISP modem/router/wireless to do the heavy lifting.

Fins! Sorry just saw your post today! I've been well. I still check the forum multiples times a day, just don't really post anymore. You guys generally cover all the questions asked quicker than I can read them:). Hope all is well and thanks for looking out.

Bruce, howve you been? I've been following all the beef. Lighten up, man! Don't be as angry as I was on here all those years back:).

Is that what you are calling Snap's gear now? ;)

What version are these? I called AppleCare Friday about one from 2010 and was told that A) it was never designed to be used hard-wired and B) that OS6 and newer won't work with it because it's too old. He said the new ones will work.

That goes against what I'm doing with at least one of them- it's hard-wired and is used for WiFi access in the 3rd floor of a house that was built in 1905, so it has some challenges.

I'm done with them- no point using it, anymore.

Some of us saw Ali grow from an annoying neighbor kid to a real pro. And saying that, I might have been one of the first to bitch about his early posts where he was trying to figure out how to do work for his cheap uncle who refused to pay a professional. Either way, I wish Ali well. I beleive he turned his inquisitions into at least a part time paid profession.

And, he's never critiqued my attraction to alcoholic beverages.

Now, back to the topic, my experiences with Apple networking gear had been limited. But using the apple networking app, I was fairly impressed with how easy the set up was and how it self configured airport expresses as range extenders.

P.S. Fins cares about no else. ;

It's been a while since I've set a multi AE network up but I believe when you use the extend option the AEs will try to connect wirelessly together, not what you want.

As someone already said, put the TW in bridge if possible or swap it for a regular DSL modem. If it can't be swapped due to on-board telephony or STBs, keep the wifi off and use the DMZ mode to share the public IP with one of the AEs. This will give you an all Apple network with one AE as the router and the others in bridge mode. I've done it out here with ATT Uverse where we have to use the ATT gateways.
