Well, we all know we are going to get that call now because the "king of all media" flip the switch to Sirius. Howard Stern finally got his freedom from the FCC.
I got 3 calls from customers this weekend wanting sirius hooked up in there home. Any input? I have never come across a home componant piece and would like to secure my self with a company who does have it.

Thanks,
Lonny

Sorry, Lonny - I have it in my car, and I love it, but no-one that has asked us for it yet has gone through with it to date... I saw some stuff at Cedia '03, but don't remember the names... I think the fireball does some, and maybe the new re-quest???

I'm sure we'll all be boning up on this in the next little while...

Lonny, I did a XM sat radio in a mid fi syatem and it was quite apparent that the audio was compressed, on the same level as a low sampled MP3. In spite of the loss in sound quality, which was noticable to the customer, he loves it.

Antex makes a 3 tuner solution as said above.

Kenwood has a home unit that is RS-232 capapble and plays very nice from our experiences with it.

Terk has a very nice outdoor antenna and extension cables to get the signal in to you.

We have also used the Kenwood and Audiovox Mobile Systems with the Home docking kits. They are fully IR Controllable. You just can't get feedback out of them if you are using some sort of touchpanel system.

I believe Russound has a tuner that can do XM. I have seen it in a few places on the web. Yep, just checked. It is called the ST-2. Retail 999.00. Kind of expensive. It also has AM/FM. It's on their website under "source equipment".

I'll second the kenwood unit. Not only is it pretty inexpensive, but it responds well to automation and is 232 controllable. The triple tuner Antex I think was around two or three grand... not worth it for highly compressed audio to me.

Oh, and as far as getting the signal to the tuner... Terk has extension RG-58 cable. I also saw a set of balun type gizmos at the Sirius booth that allows you to send the signal down RG-6... so if you have a spare in the attic you are good to go. Haven't tried them yet but they are kind of like the Xantech Injectors were with sending IR data down RG-6 (except sirius will need its own cable, no piggyback action).

there are several different Sirius cross tuners as well from JVC, Delphi, and the like...they are compact like PDA's, and mount quite nicely and discretely out of the way...

Also, I didn't see it mentioned above....Dish Network offers all of the Sirius Satellite (to included Howard Stern) on their service. I don't know whether it comes with their basic or is a small increase, but I know it's there, cause I was listening to it this last weekend...

Dish Network DOES NOT have all of the Sirius channels. Only the music channels. You don't get any of the talk/entertainment or sports channels.

You get the service with the Top 120 Package or higher.

Not sure why they don't offer any channels other than the music. I've got several dish customers who want Sirius for their distributed audio system. So I have to sell them the Sirius equipment as well.

Lonny,

That's what the Kenwood DT-7000S is.

Not sure what else you could be looking for.
