I'm not sure how much I'll use Savant, if at all. I wanted an easy way to buy Sonos, without going direct unless I find someone who wants enough to make the buy-in work for me, so I talked to ADI, which has both Savant and Sonos were bundled, for some reason). They said I need to be set up with Savant before I can buy Sonos and apparently, none of the other distributor in WI can sell Sonos. If the Savant works for some systems, that's not a bad thing.

Heavy mutual VC involvement Sonos and Savant.

Sonos is a 'stay in it's box' product, which is easy to do because its audio. Savant is a 'stay in it's box' product too.

It doesn't take a tarot card reading to see where this is going. If you can deploy systems staying inside the platform's box then you're probably good.

I hear rumblings in my market of some Savant integration with a BACNet system that didn't go well. Not sure if integrator problem or platform problem. But I know with AMX or Crestron it would work. And a pile of money. LOL

I'm not going to try to make it do what it doesn't want to, but I think it could be a decent remote for someone when they want to keep it simple. If I could only shut up and stop saying "I can make do this, too".

They have a sign up page, which needs a code from the distributor and once I get their official okey-dokey, I need to do some training to find out all of the wonderful things it can do. The setup looks easy enough and they have extra IR blasters without wires, so I won't need to string crap all over the inside of a cabinet. I haven't had many people ask about app-based control and I don't like the cost of the apps when they charge for it (URC) because a customer who buys it and finds they don't like it isn't going to be happy when I have to tell them there's no refund for that and with no hard buttons, a lot of people won't like it.

The only ADI Savant stuff is the Savant One remote system.

Unless something has changed and you can get Pro through ADI now.. I would love to know if you can.

You are correct: Remote Starter kit, Lamp Control, Blaster, Host. Nothing else.

If you want more you can go through the Haus.

If you want to go all the way you go direct with Savant.

Private Equity, not VC.  Not quite the same thing.  What is the same is both companies got a huge cash influx.

But don't ask me how I know...  ;-)

URC no longer charges for mobile apps. Unless they have a line where is not included. Possible. not sure. Total Control controller all now include the iOS/Android access. Maybe something on the CCP side still charges for apps?

I haven't looked at that in a long time- I assumed they still charged because, Apple.
