Just read that Monster & HTC are suing Dr. Dre & Beats.
Surprised?

Just read an article where Lee said he wasn't upset at the split.

I am surprised that it took them this long to sue. A because i think there was fraud and B because monster likes to sue people. [Link: huffingtonpost.com]

I think they do have a case... but why does this particular little piece of motivation not surprise me! The suit alleges Iovine and Dr. Dre "improperly erased" Monster and Monster's founder Noel Lee from Beats' history.

If it is what the article says it is, They actually might win this one, legitimately.

I hope they lose, they sued a miniature golf course for using the name monster once and Dre screwing monster is old news. Its only now due to Apple buying them they have decided to sue because they got screwed on a deal they agreed to. Boohoo.
How the hell do you design and manufacture a product and only own 5% of the company that was found and based solely on that product. Somebody messed up, bad.

Somebody messed up, bad. Yeah, Noel Lee's son, you never read that article of how Iovine and Dre got one over on the kid?

That's the story there.
Fact is, I'm not a lawyer. But if the contract was signed by both parties agreeing to the terms, and payment has been made on the timetable specified, the suit may not hold up.
Love to see what an attorney thinks of this...

From what I remember, the lee kid made a horrible deal because he had committed a bunch of $$ without the dad knowing and had to get something done fast. Here is the article from Gizmodo: [Link: gizmodo.com]

Of course Noel Lee has a case.
And Dr Dre and Iovine have $1B each to pay 3x the twice better lawyers to help ensure Noel Lee's case fails.
Few things interest me less than a pissing match between millionaires and billionaires over trivial technology. But Noel Lee losing a case is worth a few handfuls of popcorn.

Having worked for Noel Lee I can't stand him, but in this case I hope they actually win.

the way the story reads is the inexperienced son tried to be a big boy and got in over his head. How was he spending millions of dollars without any oversight? Now that the product is solid they want to claw back a piece of the action after the agreements were already made. I guarantee the music lawyers had their Sh*T together because screwing people is their ONLY job..
