Reading the C4 forums people are having some really funky issues with it, more specifically with the grouping and room off.

They can resolve it in programming but its still not 100% solid. Half say its the driver and c4 the other say its denon. considering i have a strange IP issue with my 3311ci thats a known denon issue im inclined to think its denon.

RTI driver released 12-23. Waiting on Crestron driver. Crestron says talk to Denon and Denon says talk to Crestron. Only months behind from original release date of Cedia.

With Denon's track record I wouldn't trust it yet. I'm excited for the possibility to integrated with various control systems but I just think it's going to be at least 6 months before it's ready for primetime.

Does anyone realize how long this has been an open issue? I mean imagine how many units some lucky company could have sold by now.

Sigh. I am damn near ready to make one and sell it to you guys. I know focus on Sonos and the multi room is the focus for every system and integration is the least important.

Hi All,

Paul from D&M here.

3rd party control capability for HEOS went live just before Christmas (3 weeks later than promised).

The only driver we are developing in house is C4 and we hope to submit it sometime in March.

As stated above, RTI has released their driver.

Crestron and URC should have something we can start QA'ing in the next couple weeks.

Just FYI for everyone, HEOS IP control and network hardware is completely different than any other IP/Network product D&M has produced (the board, protocol and software are 100% controlled and developed by D&M).

Cheers,

Paul

Paul,
I assume DM is pushing the C4 driver because they have extra vegetables for Sonos and you want to compete?

Well thank you for stopping in and giving us an update. My opening Heos order depends on it😎

The decision to do C4 in-house is mainly a timing one....it will be available sooner if we do it ourselves.

Thanks,
Paul

We have a fairly aggressive roadmap for services adoption - but I would gently take issue with the idea that most people in Canada use RDIO and Songza. I think most people in Canada with a wireless multi-room system use RDIO and Songza as they were the 2 main available services in Canada on our competitor's system - this is no longer the case.

Today for Canada, HEOS supports Spotify, Deezer and tunein (which one would promote to their customer if selling them a HEOS system).

Thanks,

Paul

Welcome Paul.
Since we 'lost' Matt few years ago, it's nice to see you here.
If you keep delivering open, honest news like you have, you'll do well and we do appreciate your presence.

I would ask that you add signature to state that you work for D&M. It's abundantly clear from your first 3 posts, but as time go on, you might contribute something that's little more vague and a disclaimer (in the form of a signature) makes things crystal clear.

Nothing new to share really - URC and Crestron are working hard to finish things up and our internal team is in the middle of the C4 development. Hope to be able to share something more concrete in the next couple weeks.

Thanks,

The command line interface protocol is posted at the CI portal. It's JSON and if you're handy with TCL you can build a 2-way driver for it.
