Is anybody familiar with "nettune" I've got an Integra DTR 7.3. I was tinkering around this weekend and started thinking "hey, I should run that CAT5 over there for the nettune. It looks cool enough, 500 radio stations from all over the world. Not that I would ever use it, ut it does interest me.
Then I thought "hey this could be a pretty good selling point for my customers from China, Germany, etc."
Anyway, what do you guys think of it. I don't want to go buy the cable router if it ain't worth a damn.
As always, Thanks.

As I understand it, the net radio station list cannot be modified - you're stuck with what Integra think you should listen to. Also the PC software is a bit of a pig (was about 6 months ago when I looked at this - might be better by now).
Certainly look into specing network media clients into your designs, but know that you can do alot better than the net-tune range.
Cheers, -y

You need a NetTune server to make that fly. The receiver has a client installed in it, but you need the main server to make it happen. Its pretty cool. The server also stores your MP3/.wav files for distribution as well. It retails for around $2K.

However you can not add your own and messsing around with it yesterday i came to the conclusion that most of the radio stations that are on it don't work.

That's news to me. Did you do any special configuring of the receiver? We were told by an Integra rep that it was just a client installed in the receiver.

You don't need the server to play mp3s either. Using the aforementioned software you can point the client to a computer on the network where mp3s are already stored.
Pretty cool, if you're into that kind of thing.

Debunking legends before they get started....
I set up a DTR7.4 to get internet radio. Just plug it into the router and it configures itself with DHCP. No software needed on your computer at all.
Yes, you are stuck with the stations they choose for you. It will take awhile to find the ones you like, so save them in memory so you don't have to wade thru the tiered menu to find it again. Some work great, others work today and not tomorrow, and are back the next day. I liked what I heard, but I don't listen to radio all that much so it wouldn't be a high priority for me to keep it running.
That receiver and other NetTune receivers WILL play mp3 files from your computer. THAT'S when you load the NetTune software on your computer - it allows your computer to share music files with the Integra receiver.
You can also get a stand alone music server to do that - the NAS2.3 at $2k. Then your computer does not need to be involved.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |
