We are now getting 2-3 Sony TV's a week with the 6-7 blink, sometimes they turn on and sometimes they turn off. Its the Temp Sensor on the HLR board. This is on the EX series, NX Series, HX Series and XBR's from 2010-2012. The board a couple months ago was about $15 but now it is discontinued. We had to buy our last few from Ebay. It's always nice to throw away a 65" XBR that's 2 years old over a $15 discontinued part. My KDL40EX710 just went bad and I had to get the part from Turkey on Ebay. Ebay currently doesn't have any of the boards available, and there is no substitute. Just a heads up....easy fix if you can get the part.

Complain to Sony (and I'm sure you should have some contacts?) Don't accept "we've never heard of this before" or "it's out of warranty" as an answer. While it may technically be out of warranty, a rash of bad parts should fall under "failing to meet a reasonable expectation of service". At minimum, they should be making another run of those parts.

Maybe they can do a component level repair for you if they don't have the board/s.
