good evening (or whichever suite your time zone) ladies / gents,
i've been having a read of some of the posts (namely the HA one .. some dude called tim ... ) and after reading that, i'll try not to tread on any toes of anyone here !
i'm based in the wonderful county of yorkshire in england (is anyone from these forums based over here ?) i work in IT at the moment but would like to move out of my current career and hopefully start a small business offering lighting control systems and perhaps a bit of multi-room hifi.
however, i'm not going to kid myself by pretending i can install the likes of amx / cbus et al systems... perhaps a few lights in ceiling and some av distribution (having a look at some budget composite system for some friends ..)
anyway, my point of post. i just wanted to say hello !! ;o) and let you know that id like to become a member of the forums, and if i ask any questions that dont seem to be so intelligent, please bear with me ;o)
kind regards,
Jonathan.

Welcome Jonathan. And tell Tony Blair to think twice before he listens to George Bush again :-). What do you think, Blair or Brown?

ooh ... politics ... not my strong point !! (well, anything other than the fact our prime minister and his side kicks are nothing but a bunch of empire building, oil-monopoly-wanting, slackers)
i'm sure there are some terms i could use to aide in putting my point accross - but i'd be banned on here already !! ;o)
tbh, i've never voted in the main elections (i have done for local councillors) i'm only 24 and i was travelling around france/belgium/germany/luxemberg during the last main election and i was installing a car stereo the time before that ! - i wonder if i'll get any flack for admitting i havent voted yet (i do have plans to !)
back to the morning coffee and a spot of carpentry (if you could call it that ...)
kind regards, jonathan

Hi Jon, and welcome to the forum, I have a question for you regarding c-bus. I assume you are talking about Clipsal C-Bus, and was curious to see if you knew how popular it is in the UK? Regards, Brendan Miller

It's my fault, I started it. Let's get back to welcoming the guy to the forum before we're all throwing punches over politics. This offer is only good unless someone else starts back up, then I'm coming in swinging :-).

hi there BCM-OZ
i guess cbus is relativly popular over here from what i can gather, i'm a member on the automatedhome / UKHA forum and a few people on the list do use it and do like it.
imho, its a nice system - however, i personally find it a little on the pricey side - but, if your after a system with lovely aesthetics and a well known name its a good choice.
my main 'interest' is in a group of products by a belgian company called Niko. i saw them at the cedia show and was very impressed.
have any of you had experience with, or heard of Niko ? if so, what are your thoughts ?
thankyou for your warm welcome too ;o)
regards, jonathan.
