Hey guys, Christmas crap is coming out and I want to create a timer sequence for Christmas lights on an already switched outlet circuit.

The thing is that circuit is already part of another scene.

How would I get it so when my schedule activates that the switch ignores the usual scenes when they get activated from the keypads?

TIA

The hack way that just popped in my head would be to add programming for a couple things:

Add a variable that goes true when you want "my christmas lights should be on"

Add programming on that outlet switch. "If this outlet turns off, and 'my christmas lights should be on', then turn the outlet back on"

Ugly, eh? :)

thats what i came up with but i was hoping there is a easier way to "forget" a light.

I was also wondering if i could create a schedule so between thanksgiving and new years use "christmas light scene" between newyears and thanksgiving use "normal scene" but then IF its between the hours of 11pm-sunset use "normal scene"

So under advanced lighting i would just create a christmas scene without the outlet circuit.

I think this would work but its complicated and would take some doing and is just as "ugly" as your variable :)

Yeah you could do all that, but you wouldn't be able to "bind" the button to the lighting scene. You would have a have a scheduler set some variables, then when you press the button it checks against the variables and picks the correct lighting scene. You'd also have to manually program LED feedback.

It actually wouldn't be that bad if it's only a couple buttons/scenes. Sounds like a "fun" project...

Assume switched outlet is called "candles"
Take candles out of the other scene (calling that scene "normal")
Schedule activates set variable "holiday" to true
When scene normal activates if holiday is false set candles to on
When scene normal deactivates if holiday is false set candles to off
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

You will learn all this as you go. With C4's programming language, there are always a million ways to accomplish something. It takes experience to learn which ways are the most efficient....meaning less work for you. :)
