Hello all,
I just installed an IR repeater system on my HT. Everything works great except for the Ultimate TV. Has anyone ever seen this problem? I have tried several remotes including a Pronto and still no luck. The IR flashback flash a couple of times then quits when I'm sending a signal. All other components work great.

I bought the stuff from Smarthome.com and got the:

Buffalo IR-100 connecting block
Duel emitters
Stealth IR receiver

I had the same problem with my Powermid IR repeater. Is there something special with RCA Sat receivers?

Yep, they operate with a 57khz carrier frequency for IR.

Sounds like the repeater is having a difficult time passing the carrier frequency. (CFL friendly or repeaters made to work well in sunlight, won't pass RCA carrier frequencies)

Try a NON CFL friendly repeater from Xantech. They work for us with no problem using RCA satellite receivers.

Rob,

John is 100% correct. If you prefer the look of the Audioplex Stealth IR receiver, you can add a second stealth (this one tuned to 56kHz for the RCA). Call smarthome and see if they stock it or as John says, purchase a standard wide band IR sensor from Niles or Xantech. That will give you less range and more interference than the Xantech CFL or the Audioplex Stealth, but will work both conventional (40kHz) and RCA (56kHz) remote controls with one sensor.

I use two Stealth sensors in systems that require a lot of range and sensitivity (large rooms or clients that don't remember to point). The increase in range is dramatic! It is just pricey.

Thanks,
Swapped out the Stealth IR with the Xantech Dinky Link Mod # 480B-00. The system works like a champ now!!

Thanks for all the help.

FYI,

My RCA Ultimate TV came WITH an IR Repeater terminated with an 1/8" mini that plugs right into my Xantech block. I didn't bother using it, as my Xantech worked fine with it.

Just something I noticed in the box! Happy Home Theater-ing!
