anyone know if any of the receivers with phone aps allow you to control a bluray player with the same ap?
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

But dont you have to switch back and forth from device in the app? Or can it detect when you are on the bluray, presumably with HDMI control?

why not just do a CCgen2 or pro control solution with an app?

Assuming this is for a client i would never rely on the manufacturers "apps"

He didn't ask to control both without switching devices, just same ap, which Yamaha will do. If he wants to control both without switching he would have to do what Brendon said can get a control system as far as I know.

The apps for Pioneer's Elite line will definitely control both, though as I have only an Elite Receiver I can't tell you how the toggle or selection between the two devices works.

The apps are available for free on Google Play Store and iTunes under different names specific to equipment model years - on Google Play "iControlAV5" works for the latest Elite receivers.

The apps will run in a demo mode without connecting to actual devices - so you can see how it works before committing.

Hope this helps

The Pioneer Elites can be controlled, as stated by others.

However, the units have to be from the same model year. Pioneer Elite does have multiple iPhone apps. But each one is for each model year. So if you have an AVR from 2012 and a Blue Ray from 2013, you will need two apps.

That is the highest downfall I've ever seen in a controlling app.

I understand he didn't ask. Just in my mind, if I have to switch devices, it's the same or worse as switching apps. Maybe worse. Double tap the home button to switch between apps. Switching devices in the app requires more steps.

While generally I agree, the same can be said of that issue with any control system. Outside of control volume on an AVR, you typically would have to switch between the devices by pressing Main or Home and navigating to the other device. While you CAN program a control system to control both within one "device" or "activity", the programming would be sloppy.
